  • HELP : kick lever stuck

My bike won't start on my way back home in the office parking lot. The kick lever moves only about 90 degrees with much difficulty. Earlier it used to move a whole 180 degrees and the bike used to start in the first kick. It feels like something is broken or jammed inside. Will take my mechanic to work on it tomorrow. Any ideas whats wrong with my Caliber 115.

Mechanic told me not to try push starting as it could compound the problem.

This is the first time something like this has happened. Engine/Gearbox is untouched in 9 yrs/ 118k kms of riding.

Will try to fix it tomorrow. Anyone faced such an issue before?

well i cant say much as i dont have the technical know how of the kick level functioning but a similar thing happened to my activa and when i took it to the mechanic he said some gears/sprockets or whatever is that called for the kick level has been damaged and when i came to take my scooter back he said the clutch cover has to be replaced as some slot had broken and couldnt be fixed with a lathe machine(could be fixed but no gurantee)

The gears/sprockets connected to the Kicker has started acting up. I've read about similar issues they cause after extensive wear and tear, like making the kicker to not bite properly, hence making the rider kick blanks.

If it's a wear and tear issue, then push start is an option. I am concerned if some metallic bits are broken inside which could cause further damage.

The kick ratchet has worn out and not engaging properly with the gearbox so you have to completely open the engine to change the ratchet and at this time completely overhaul the engine as it has run quite a bit and anyways you will be opening the engine.

The piston and valves were worn out/jammed.
Changed the piston block, valves and oil seals and now running in the new block.

The shocking part is that there were no warning signs till the very last. No loss of power, no smoke, nothing at all.
