  • Problem in '11 Hunk

    Hey guys,

I have this new 2011 hunk, rode 4000 Kms . I am a moderate to light rider and drive like 40-50 kmph .
Have number of issues with the bike ,

    1. i always find some lag in the actual speed of the bike and the amount of sound coming from engine. (the speed is not as the sound suggests), the idle RPM of carb is 15000 (that is ok i guess). the sound is much more specially in 1st gear, as i said i ride lightly and never rip the throttle off. so please shed some light.

    2. How stiff or free the handle bar should be ? i slipped once and got dents in bar , got it replaced and now it feels like a cycle handle honestly. I was happy with a little stiff.

    3. The new hunk light (the reason i slipped ). i complained to the guy at auth service center about the dim light , he adjusted the beam , but still i feel the light is very low. so tell me guys , is the headlamp of hunk is really dim?

    4. again the sound question , i rarely hit 65 + but when i do , i feel like i am killing the engine or something.
    the bike vibrates like hell.

having said that , i love the bike and really want to come over these issues.

      1 & 4,

The idling rpm should be 1200 - 1400 i suppose, check your manual.

And for the sound & vibration

      >Check your oil and its level, when was the last change and top up
      > Check Carburetor tuning, might be real lean.
Presence of MIND and self CONFIDENCE is the primary aspect You need to be on road, not what brand your riding gears are.
If you lack these two then DONT

          2 & 3..

I think the handle bar problem is bike specific in your case bcs my is normal it is feel free when bike is on center stand other wise it feels a great handling...

Also the headlamp of hunk is not dim it is as normal as others bikes has, i also have hunk 2011 completed 14k never had any problem with lights even never rode with high beam its very sharp...

1st year is always noisy, dnt worry about it.

It shouldnt bother u i guess.

All of us keep complaining about the same, no difference in ur case . get used to it or u can later upgrade for HID If u NEED.

            4. again the sound question , i rarely hit 65 + but when i do , i feel like i am killing the engine or something.

Possible reasons might be pending oil change or lean AFR. How frequently do u change ur oil by the way ??

having said that , i love the bike and really want to come over these issues.
AFR tuning and an Oil change should do the trick for you.

              Your queries 1 & 4-
The vibrating issue and speed vs. rpm issue, is probably due to incorrect clutch setting. As Abhishek suggested let us know the speed you are getting @ 4000 rpm on 5th gear.
When did you change the oil last time?
What about the carb setting, do you feel any difficulty with your bike's cold start(in mornings)

              Now query 3 -
IMO Hunk headlight is not good/bright compared to Pulsar/Apache etc.
At low rpms you will really feel the brightness to be less.
But do check, in DIM mode if you are getting the light beam on road near to you.
If not try to set it yourself with the help of Hunk user manual.

                Hi,

                Here is the speed,

                1st : 13 KMPH , 2nd : 25 KMPH , 3rd 35 KMPH (all full throttle)

Also can you shed more light on clutch settings.

I am a light rider so I end up changing the oil frequently (till now free services) . 1500 Kms or less may be.

With choke the bike starts fine.so no issues in starting.

Would HID/Projecter/DC would be a good option? If yes , can you guide me through it.

Its good that you change your oil @ 1500km.
If your bike start fine with choke, then there shouldn't be a problem with carb setting I believe.
The ideal clutch free play as per Hunk manual is 10-20mm. Try to set your clutch to this free play, if needed.
At 4000rpm(5th gear) my Hunk speeds at 50kmph, please let us know your bike's figures, so that we could decide if your bike REALLY lags on speed to rpm.

Reg HID/DC/Projector I don't have much idea, I don't watch those mods much, as these are costly and in my perspective, its not wise to play with bike elctricals.
But search in this forum, you will find lots of posts/thread regarding the same.

You can easily set the the headlamp using the bolt present under the Headlamp Console behind just front Licence plate. Adjust it according to your req. and enjoy riding knight riding .

That was what I was advising him buddy, but thought it would be easy for him to set if he refers the manual.
He wouldn't have to search for the nut/bolt, as it is picturized in the manual
