  • Engine Oil Drain Plug casting broken!! Need Help!

    Hello there....
I had left my FZS for an Engine oil change in a Shell Outlet. The guy who had changed the oil has accidentally tightened the bolt, instead of loosening it. The 'bolt' is NOT broken, but the 'casing' on the engine, on which the bolt sits is!

I have it fixed temporarily with an oversized bolt, a larger tapped hole, and some synthetic bonding material. But i definitely know this won't stand for long.

I also know welding is the only permanent fix for this problem. But i just can't go with an idea. I need help! Anyone give me suggestions or directions, as this will probably not be the only case like this on xBHP.

    Adios!
    Guru.

get a new bolt made, with the new diameter, from a lathe shop, that would solve your prob.
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

A lathe machinist who has experience in aluminum and casting work will do it in half hour. He should not be crude in re threading.

          drain bolt

no need to get a new bolt made etc. Just take it to an experienced mechanic who has done it before.. (please keep minimum petrol in bike as it will be put sideways on ground)
He will drill a bigger hole with a rod with threads(manually), put a similar sized bolt in it. Simple. Just a five min job. (have got it done on my old bike, costed me 50 bucks)

you should get it done near your oil change interval as some metal particles may get into the oil chamber.
