  • Query regarding ownership change - Too complicated :(

    Hi guys,
I am from Bangalore. Recently I bought a second hand Hero Honda Karizma (lucky to get a bike which has been used very less ) I paid the whole amount as I was excited to get one and the owner himself confirmed that the bike is having all valid papers except the Insurance which I agreed to renew by myself and he agreed to handover the RC and Tax paid certificate after 2 days and gave me the photocopy of the RC.

Later, unfortunately I came to know that the RC has gone missing So that guy applied for a new one (smart card) last week and hopefully will reach him within 15 days.

Now, I am confused if he will be getting the Tax paid docs along with the new RC or not? Because he has paid the lifetime tax already and the same was there in his old RC (book) and the same went missing

    Kindly clear my doubt

Pls clarify if its a new one or duplicate of original RC that comes in the new smary card avatar. Also remember, for a duplicate RC a proper FIR has to be filed stating the reasons & quite a damn formalities are involved. So I highly doubt the 15 days!!!

IMHO, there cannot be a new RC book issued for a bike that's already registered. In case of duplicate RC book, nothing to worry as the tax is already been paid.

Thanks for the quick and smart reply

        1. He had applied for a duplicate RC - Already filed a police case for the lost RC as it was must for applying for a duplicate RC. The original RC which he had was an RC book, but he will be getting a smart card now (the duplicate one)

        2. In that case he would be getting the smart card with all the tax paid infos, right? And how do I verify that the tax paid info is already there in the card? Or will he be getting a seperate doc for tax receipt or something?

PS: By new RC I mean a duplicate one (sorry for the confusion)

When did this happen? Before you paying the full amount or after or during the process? Get the copy of FIR to verify the date & DO NOT go by his words. God save you from all troubles if he says he doesn't have the copy of FIR (By law, a copy of FIR HAS to be given or we have the RIGHT to get one)

If I were you I wouldn't simply worry over these, get the money back from him, walk away for a better ZMA/R.

              Awwwwwwwww
This happened before he handed over the bike to me (before I paid the amount)
He was also not aware of the fact that his RC went missing

He was ready to return the money even when the last time when we met But I didn't want to give the bike back to him because it is that awesome

Btw, he has applied for the duplicate RC 10 days back. Will wait for 10 more days and if still he doesn't get it, will return the bike back to him

How to transfer the bike insurance to my name from the previous owner?

                  Reference thread: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...mplicated.html

                  Hi guys,
I am from Bangalore, Karnataka. I have recently bought a second-hand bike (Karizma) and I need to transfer RC as well as the insurance to my name. I found out the procedure to transfer the RC from net, but couldn't get the method how to transfer the insurace certificate. Do I have to proceed via RTO or can I do ot from the insurace company? Any online method is there?

                  Expecting replies

Firstly get the bike transfered in your name from the RTO buy completing the formalities. On your reference thread you say that the previous owner has received the smart card, so go ahead and follow the procedure.

Once you have the RC in your name, walk into the insurance company with the RC copy and have the name on the policy changed. Its that simple and i doubt you need anything else. But ensure that you get the insurance policy in your name, cause in case of a misfortune you will land up in bigger troubles. Also, kindly refrain from opening new threads on the same issue. In case you think that you or the members might get confused, update the threads and give as much information as possible.

I am back with another query

Is there any way to track the status of our RC book online? I had applied for the ownership transfer last month (May 19, 2012) and the RTO people said it will be delivered in ~20 days. Now it has been 25 days I am concerned if there are any issues

Any way to trach the status online? I am from Bangalore. If not, how can I know when I will get it (?)

Usually the RC - smart cards are couriered to the address given, this is in case of a brand new bike though. Incase of the bike being re-registered they tend to forget/ignore doing this.

Suggest that you go along with the road tax paid slip to the RTO office and inquire. They generally give all documents post lunch only and not in the mornings. You will have to push it a little and only then will they be kind enough to finish things.

Also, suggest you provide details on the thread of the expenses incurred, so that it would be helpful in the future for anyone. Things like this is generally not mentioned as people don't want to. But I think there is no harm in doing so.

                              Cheers,
