  • Pulsar 150 oil cleaner

Hello guys i own a pulsar UG4.5 12,000kms done so far.
I just want to know that the manual suggests that the centrifugal oil filter should be cleaned at every 10,000 KMS.
Since i do all the bike servicing and maintenence by myself i think it's about time i give it a try.
But i've never opened up the engine side and i'm pretty nervous that i'll mess it up.
I just want to know that has anyone done that job himself and can anyone guide me step by step.Any pictures would be appreciated.Thanx in advance.
And please don't suggest taking it to the service center, in my area they do nothing better than washing and polishing the bike.

better get it done by a mechanic in front of you. you will need to drain all the oil before opening the side cover of gearbox, so better get it done at servicing.

Prince .. longtime man... i have a doubt regarding the centrifugal filter... even if you open it, what type of cleaning is required... only sludge or should we go for a new filter.

Metal shavings will be the most visible feature there, but is there anything more to do with cleaning, cause I'm sure those looking for a mesh will be disappointed.

Hi. Even I service my P220 on my own.
During the initial services, I have taken lots of photos.. so I have a photo of the Centrifugal filter being cleaned.

From what I remember below might be the steps:
          -Drain the oil
-Open right hand side engine/clutch case cover.. it has many bolts
-The centrifugal filter will be seen immediately like a disk (UFO shaped).
-This has one central screw (or may be 3 screws, will correct this after I check the pics). Once you unscrew this, the disk will come appart.
-With a new tissue paper or cotton balls, clean the insides of this disk, and its corresponding opposite part. When I saw last time, this has very small aluminimum/metal particles stuck in it.
-Once cleaned, fit the filter back on.
-Also clean the clutch case and the cover which was removed in step 1.
-Carefully put the oil seal (blue gasket?) back on first
-Put the cover case and bolt it back on.
-Pour fresh oil.. not sure if the qutantity has to be more than specified if the case was opened.

I want to do this next, but I dont know the torque settings of the bolts and the screws for the centrufugal disk.. hence I'm a bit apprehensive of doing this. also I'm not sure how to fit the oil seal/gasket properly.. as it looks very much like a think blue paper to me..

All about is for the Pulsar 220, but should be the same for the 150 too.

Let me know what you think, and I will try to post the photos soon.
Also let me know if you do this, so I will know I can try it too

Thanx everyone for their valueable inputs.
I think now i'm confident enough.
@aditya bro can u please post the pics u've taken of the clutch side it would be really helpful.
and regarding the oil seals(blue gasket) i think i can torque the clutch cover sufficiently at home and then get it tightened by the pressure tools they have it at the service centre.

also it states that we need 1.1ltr engine oil following an engine overhaul
so will it be required to put 1.1ltr after cleaning the oil filter

Yup, oil quantity needed will be higher than normal. Usually in the range of 1.1 to 1.2L
