  • bajaj pulsar 220F carburetor's rubber duct

i really don't know whether any1 f em over here had similar problem any how the problem is the rubber duct connecting the carburetor to the air filter in my pulsar 220f had few cuts on it. so i told it to the local garage guy to change it, after few days he told me that he's not able to procure that duct and its not available in any of the spare parts dealer, even i searched for it but in vain so the garage guy came up with a pulsar 200 s rubber duct did some work on it and fixed it to my bike. now the problem is
*performance has gone down(doesn't accelerate the way it used to)
*fuel efficiency keeps on changing(somtimes more and sometimes less)
*whenever i go for long rides the rubber duct detaches itself from the carb.(happens a lot) when i fix it back and tighten the screw it'll stay like that for a week or so and again the same things start to happen

so please help me out here just tell me what to do and if possible give me the name of spare parts dealer who has the stock
    btw i live in bangalore

this happened with me also, thou i have a Pulsar 150.

the hard thing is the rubber hose pipe is not available with any spare part dealer or even distributor. i searched for almost 10 days in every service center and spare parts dealer, even distributor also in pune, when i couldn't find it i contacted the service manager of pune and gave him a real peace of mind. gave an ultimatum that he has 24 hours to procure and give me the part, obviously he failed to deliver on next day and all hell broke loose in his office. then he called up a dealer cum service center and asked them to take it out from a brand new bike and give to me.

so the moral of the story is rubber hose pipe is very dificult to procure, as it is not available easily.

anyway, coming back to your point, find out who is the service manager in your city, meet him and kick his a$$.

if there is any leakage in hose pipe, not will performance go down, engine will overheat because now it is running too lean and unfiltered air sucked in will easily damage teh block piston.

    act swiftly.

not about the pulsar you can not find the hose pipe for any bike easily.the solution is write an email to the company and simply ask them your next bike should be from which company when you can not provide such simple items. It has always worked for me( it also worked even today).your mail must be full of facts which can not be proved like rude behavior on dealer's part.

Any authorized Bajaj service center should have it.

I have a question here; when last did you clean the air filter. Maybe it is blocked which caused the rubber duct to pulsate and crack due to the suction. When it cracked it allowed the engine to breathe better thereby improving the performance. When you put the new rubber on the performance went down because the engine could not breathe anymore?

            • never happens like that. the air filter never gets so choked up that it will totally block air flow. howsoever disrty it is.
            • even if it is choked, the suction pressure is not sufficient to crack solid rubber parts.
            • and even if the suction is so great, air filter being much weaker will tear first.
