Never hear dof this kind of problems.. just wondering if the clucth plates has something to do with this issue... check their life once

Checked ASC today. Clutch plates are ok. They couldn't find anything. Is this some fatal problem?

From what you have said looks like the gear shift drum or the shift pawl pinion is worn...but never heard of such problem in any bike so far..Only if ASC mechanics sit down and trouble shoot ,the actual reason may be known.

As per the ASC ppl, freeplay of the clutch cable was the culprit. They said it was too low.

Explanation given - More the play, u get hard shifts. Less play, gear slips.
For the time being, gear shifts are fine. But only time will tell.

But i want ppl to pitch in and suggest whether the solution provided was apt.

What the ASC had said is true, and the fact that after the clutch adjustment the bike is now ok ,just proves it....if you want to simulate the problem you can try slightly engaging the clutch while driving and try the same as before...the gears will skip depending on the pressure and the duration time of the pressure....
But how did it change ? did you or any mechanic adjust it ? or any kids playing around with your bike ?

Hmm... I just hope the bike's fine now. I gave it to the same SVC for service some 10 days back. I guess maybe the mechanics did something then.

Also, kids may have done something, because every morning I see my indicators flashing or the high beam on when I start the bike.
Feeling a lot relieved now!

I think the mechanic readed your post where you said you like to see a 6 gear in upcoming bike from hero & decided to reduce your gears

Joking apart , good to know culprit is just a clutch cable . High possibility that the kids screwed it . As no problem when you got bike after service

Ya, kids... Though the kids in my locality aren't as naughty as we, or at least I used to be... But, they do tamper with the switch gear and stuff.
