  • R15 Version 2.0 Clutch & gear shifting Issues

    Dear all,

I am a newly joined member here at xbhp.
I have bought the Yamaha Yzf R15 Version 2.0 on Feb, 2012.Till date I hav'nt experienced any major problems with this bike but I have a little problem only as regards to gear shifts as it is a bit problematic within 1st,Neutral & 2nd gear as it sometimes get stuck in neutral when shifting to 2nd gear from neutral & vice versa. Also,i would have to release my clutch lever till almost half the distance for the shift to take place.I had owned a R15 Version 1 before this & it had no such issues.Since I am new here, can anyone help me regarding this issue or has anyone experienced this same problem with their V2s?

I would sincerely appreciate all of your kind comments & opinions in this regard.

    Thanks.

How many kms has your bike run?? I had little problems like tight gear shifting specially in lower gears but only during running-in..gear shifting tends to get smoother by 1000-2000 kms..it also depends how well u shift gears during this initial period..so if you have taken care of these things properly and used your bike more than 1000-2000 kms then its an abnormal problem which you should sort out with svc..
ps: hope you havent fiddled with grade of oil and used semi synthetic only all throughout...

From when you are facing this problem means from the first day or after the first service? if your running-in is over then just go to svc.

dnt worry its just normal, i too had the same issue in the beginning but after clocking over 1000km(1st service) the engine, gear box, clutch unit everything gets settles in.. and all things will turn out to be soft.. no neutral shift...or full clutch shift!!

Ensure you use the recommended grade of engine oil. Do remember to check the chain slack and adjust it if necessary. Lube your chain every 500KMs, and you will never ever face this problem again

              eddie_V2.0's R15 V2.0 clutch & gear issues

Hi All & thanks for your replies,

              To Maverick,
Thanks for your replies. Well my bike has clocked around 1500kms till date & my 2nd free service is due this month on 15th May, 2012 . With all due respect Maverick, I am a very careful & cautious rider, as I have been throughout my many years of riding,so the question of shifting gears haphazardly doesnt arise. Well the problem is when i brake suddenly in traffic from a decent speed, the downshifting becomes a bit of an issue, well that is only when this scenario takes place, especially with a pillion & sometimes alone, that too not often, also, when I upshift in this same reverse situation, its the same problem. Also, when it comes to the type of oil, during 1sst service,Yamaha guys insisted that I use semi synthetic oil which I did.I havent changed the oil till then.My 1st service was on 10th March 2012.So,my question is have you experienced this sort of thing often?

              To Shadab 007,
I dont exactly remenber when exactly this problem started.Running in is over I think since its already clocked 1500+ kms.Only thing is that 2nd free servicing is due this month on 15 May,2012.

              To Starkiller,
What exactly do you mean by neutral shift & full clutch shift?

              To Satyen Poojary,
I am using the recommended semi synthetic oil by Yamalube.I think the chain is kind of a bit loose too as there is some mild scraping noise coming from the chain sprocket.Im sure this is a big factor too which is affecting pick up & smoothness.
