  • Multiple Oil Leaks-Apache RTR 160 Carb

    Hello everyone

I ride an 2009 Apache RTR 160 carb with 30K kms on it.

Off late i ve noticed multiple oil leaks from the clutch cover at the cable linkage point, around the oil filter cap,all around the front sprocket cover, around the gear pivot linkage. I ve been waitng to correct this for a while as the oil levels have fallen to an extremely low level. There was a major leakage from the head a couple of months back and i got it corrected.

I ve noticed some oil in the air filter box and in the air outlet hose. After referring to a few articles i ve come across terms like blow by and blow back which i am unable to decipher in layman terms,

    Kindy enlighten.

i think the leak around the oil filter cap is due to loose screws...and leak around front sproket, gear pivot linkage may be due to the excessive oil poured onto the chain, that should be comming out....
you service at TVS service centre?because they use oil to clean the air
filter, that explains the oil in air filter box...clear all the problems sonn buddy low oil level is not good for the engine!
      gud luck

blow back is return of air-fuel mixture from the carb & airfilter intake (wrong & reverse in order).
Another meaning is blow back of engine oil towards engine head area and fouling with valves & spark plug. (this can be caused by damaged/worn intake valve, improper sdjstment of valves or can be as simple as incorrect tuning)
Blow by is passing of air fuel mixture, out of the combustion chamber into oil sump. (worst Reason is worn out piston, rings, cylinder walls)
In both condition you should have power & mileage loss.
Now, the oil leakage you mention can also be caused by over-filling of engine oil from long or can be sign of worn out components.
