  • Need help for pulsar 200

    hello guys,
i have every thing fine and replaced in my bike(sprocket set, cone set, full clutch plates, all bearing in front Tyre, rear tyre, swing are joints, all wire harness etc. i have 200cc 2007 December model.

but still i am not able to reach 135 speed.
my highest is speed is 126 kmph. and i have black speedometer not the white one.
i have doubt because my Friends with white speedo reach 135 plus.
what i have examined is i can't go more than 9k RPM.
so guys please suggest me here what should i do or 126 is that last that i can have.
    bike is properly maintained.
    running on Valvoline 20w50.

    Topic Approved.

    1. Check if your exhaust sound has changed/ increased, or if it has started leaking Glasswools from the back,

    2. Check if your carburetor is tuned fine and your spark plug color is not too reddish brown, or oilish black but between these two extremes.

You can learn to tune a carburetor, by searching for relevant topics in Xbhp itself.

if everything else is fine the only problem is that you are not going hard enough, find a nice open road to test the speed, do a few runs at normal pace on the stretch to avoid nasty surprises, and go full throttle from first gear itself and shift only at redline.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

Quite simple. The black background speedometers on the earlier batches of the 200/220 were more accurate. The newer white background ones are quite optimistic.

Do a side-by-side test with your friend and compare speed readings. You'll see the difference. Not that I'm suggesting racing on streets y'know.

About the 9K rpm I think there may be some niggles, generally a 200 can be revved over this figure.
I have reached 131 on speedo once, with me being about 100kg/6'3"

The black speedo Pulsars from 2007 have extremely accurate speedos. The white speedo Pulsars have a speedo error of +7.3%, so if you ride alongside your friend whose bike does 135, at 135kmph on his speedo, your speedo would show a value which is 7.3% less i.e. 126kmph (125.8kmph on GPS)

Moral of the story: Forget the top speed and enjoy the ride. There is absolutely nothing wrong in your bike.

thank you sir for quick approval.
there is no leakage at all, just a little accident with exhaust but no sound change.
another thing i am running on NGK Gpower and they are middle of too black and too brown.

thanks bro , my bike is extremely smooth from other any pulsar. and i also seen that difference while parallel riding.
                will check out via GPS.

any suggestion if i put joel's ffe, max speed will increase or it will same (apart from pickup)?
also want to know if can we go beyond 9k RPM?

no joel's ffe wont give any top speed boost, it will just make you reach there faster.
And 2007 batches of all pulsars were rev limited at 9k or so rpm. So even if you are able to exceed that mark (in stock condition) your bike will bog down.
And your top speed is totally perfect. And as told by other members those speedo are highly accurate. That's what 200 can do. You can confirm the same from various auto magazines.
For more top speed you need to have a custom CDI which will allow to go beyond 9k rpm mark (but this will hurt your engine) or getting your self a sprocket kit which will provide taller gears (and this will kill initial acceleration)

                    @Honda_CBF Thanks a lot.

@ all just for info i have p220 sproket set and its exhaust, is that can be any issue.
now feel better after such reviews here.
just last thing, to increase top speed i am going to put p220 crankshaft+RC BB=230CC without headwork. so will it workout and leave P220 behind in race, i.e. it will reach 150+kmph speed?
                    thank you.

dont think any 220 or 200 were limited to 9k rpm

why are you worried about the top speed 5year old bike reaching 126kmph means its in its mint condition ,ride at its crusing speed and enjoy the ride..

sorry, no idea about these mods.
                        .
                        @ abhiiceman,
once we were unable to exceed 9.2 or 9.3k rpm on p220 even on 2nd gear, it felt like rev limiter kicking in. That's why i commented that.

power is nothing without control, so power/speed etc won't determine were you going to win or not.
And why race? Its dangerous you know
