kinectic Honda jerking forward!

    kinectic Honda jerking forward!

    my kinectic Honda is jerking forward whenever i release the accelerator while the bike is in running position....
    tried explaining to the mechanics but they all say its clutch problem. i smoothened the clutch plates using a sand paper but still the jerkiness is experienced.
    the clutch belt is new too...
    can anyone help me pin point the exact problem?

    You mean the bike continues to go forward even if you release throttle, is that what you meant? That should mean that the accelerator wire gets stuck in a "pulled" position even when you release throttle, right?

      Used to have similar problem when my carb was running extra lean and Idle speed Kept changing,
      Senior members will be here to help you soon.BTW is it like giving slight throttle and closing repeatedly?

        yes it's more like giving throttle quickly and in small intervals.....

        certainly the cable is not stuck because otherwise the bike would have been at a constant speed...
        it's more like sudden bursts of acceleration but in very small intervals....

          extra lean? mine is set at 2.5 turns...

            can't say much about the jerks but you shouldn't have to smoothen the clutch plates. They are there to grip and as well as slip (according to situation) and wear out.

              well a few mechanics to whom i showed to said that the clutch plates should be smoothened ....

                What i meant to say is that, When AFR is not correct Idle RPM will keep fluctuating, producing jerky feeling when throttle is released, i`m most probably wrong but why don`t you try increasing idle speed a bit?

                  what happens when you put it on the mainstand and open the throttle and release it? observe the wheels as it settles down to idle.

                  Its a clutch issue. And something to do with the 'springs'.
                  Have you replaced the belt?


                  Does the clutch also tend to grab when you start to accelerate?


                  2.5 turns is not lean AFAIK.



                  PS: ensure that the rear wheel does not touch the ground while you attempt this. Keep hands, legs and other body parts away from the rear wheel.

                    check out the clutch plates!!

                    if the problem of jerking vanishes when u have reached a certain speed.i.e after accelerating then its the clutch plate for sure.

                      btw, jerks with lean tune are common but 2.5 turns aren't lean, neither rich.

                        i think instead of first going into all this carb stuff, you should just empty the tank, clean it thoroughly, open the fuel tap in the tank and clean that too, see if there are any black deposits in the fuel pipe, fuel tap, as well as get your spark plug checked or just replaced without any checking if you havent ever changed it. if all this fails, i guess you should try playing around with the carb..

                          PS: you shouldnt have just smoothened out the clutch plates.. whether the jerking is happening due to engine problem or clutch will be very very clearly noticeable when you are riding. if theres an engine problem, it will feel as if the fuel has gotten over and the engine will also jerk. if its a clutch problem, then the engine rpm wont jerk. just your acceleration will be jerky. this should be very clearly noticeable and i dont think should be a point of confusion.

                            also, conduct a simple test. put your kinetic on the main stand, and start accelerating. see if the jerking still occurs. if its an engine problem, it will be clear. if its a clutch problem, the engine rpm wont start jerking suddenly, and you will be able to feel the clutch engage and disengage. also theres a very good chance that if its a clutch problem afterall, the jerking wont happen while accelerating the vehicle on its main stand but only when actually riding on the road when the clutch is under pressure..

                              thanks for all the inputs .
                              i have adjusted the idling speed which is now at a constant speed.
                              the problem seems to be solved as of now.
                              still am not sure if it was the only cause for that jerking.
