  • Bajaj Pulsar 180 Disc Brake Problem

Ohkay,Firstly I want to apologize if I am posting this on the wrong thread
So,I have a bajaj pulsar 180(digital meter) year 2007,and I recently started having problem with my disc brake, they all of a sudden get loose and stop working but after 4-5 try(s) they work like new, perfect.

Can anyone help me with this problem?Ever happened to any of you?

Did not took bike to the service centre and firstly thought of discussing it here.
    Help will be appreciated.
    Thank You

This happens only once, when you change the brake oil and then apply the brakes 4-5 times, before braking actually happens. But it happens only once.

If its happening again and again, that could mean something wrong with the caliber or the brake hose. Get these things checked.

BTW Did you get your brake oil changed recently by some mechanic/ someone?

@Xionite Maybe over a year ago,(but the bike did only 6,000kms)
and does it need to changed?I checked the fluid and it was full.

@Samarth 619...Took it to a local mechanic today and he says there is a assembly near the brake fluid box and its rubber is damaged and needs to be changed.Could he be right?

if it's actig up then it's quite likely that i needs to be fixed.

            the part costs 190 rupees.

There is some loose fitting from where your brake setup is catching air.

Or if there is air in the oil pipe or up lever setting.

Did you check the brake tank above where we can see the oil level??? is that set up thighten peoperly. it might be loose.

even check your brake pads whether they are worn out ??

Yes I did check the oil level and it was pretty good, and also made sure that it was tighthen properly.

Plus I got my brake pads changed in November 2011 and after that bike did only 1500kms.The brake pads are still good.

                    Rehman,

The mechanic may be right. Check the rubber bulb which stays in contact with the brake lever for any fluid leakage. If brake fluid is leaking, then there is a chance that air is getting into the chamber through it. And that would also explain why the problem gets, so as to speak, fixed after 4-5 tries, as the air gets pumped out by then.

Yes,He may be right. He says the rubber is worn out and replacing it would solve the problem,Although I am gonna take the bike to the authorized service centre and get it repaired there(this way I would know their opinion as well).
