FYI I own a '07 Discover 135, same prob in my bike
Have extensively ridden my friend's '05 Discover 125, '06 Discover 112, both have the same prob & have recently ridden a '12 Pulsar 135LS which has the same problem. So I guess its not so baseless as your comment sir. With all due respect, atleast think before you post such a remark about someone, because that might mislead the thread starter. Thank you!!!

No sir, you're mistaken, warranty includes all parts (except the consumables & parts prone to wear & tear).

If the tank is moving when pushed side ways by 5mm or so then I guess it is fine and you are simply enjoying Bajaj Build Quality here and nothing else.
I guess the reason for that being that BAL tanks are attached using just a single bolt whereas most bike tanks are attached using 2 bolts. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      Ohkay...

So it seems that this is a common issue to all p135s to some degree...

So whats the solution? Must be some way to fix it, even if the ASC guys are not aware of it...

      How do people fix it?

And my tank doesnt wobble on its own, but even the slightest nudge with the knee is sufficient to move it. The play is 20-25 mm on either side
      Trying to make ends meet....
(with fuel prices surging, not a very rare case)

the simplest, most efficient and cheap solution i think will be to get a longer piece of metal welded on the screw area, with 2 drilled holes, and same on the frame, and use 2 more screws to fix the tank. you will have to see how much longer metal can be used without disturbing any other placements.. so in total, you will 3 screws holding, 2 new on the side and the existing center one.

+1 to above. 2 or 3 three screws would do the job just perfectly.

Get the rubber bushes on the frame wrapped with rubber padding to increase the diameter slightly or if the bigger pulsars' tank mount rubbers are slightly bigger, swap your mounts with the bigger ones that will reduce play to certain extent. P.s Even the apache has certain degree of sideways play on the fuel tank and it does help increase the comfort level a bit while cornering(If within acceptable limits of a few mm's on either side and not considering extreme speeds).I am a bit on the heavier side and the slight movement of the tank reduces the pressure on the inner thighs a bit.

Certainly not! I had one, never faced such problem.

Warranty applies to critical components such as engine/chasis/suspension/electricals etc.

TS you can directly tell the svc guys what to do to solve the problem. Mostly they say this to avoid work as they have to work on lot of bikes. Don't fall for that.

Bro, just check the two rubber knobs which support the tank, if they're worn replace them, and then secure the bolt under the seat, if you still experience wobbles, then try adding some form of rubber padding and try securing it. This issue is unheard of in Pulsars, but its extremely common with SZ's.

adding rubber paddings under tank will work perfect.
Usually those rubber paddings has thread kind of design (where it mounts into the gromet on the frame) which can be used to increase the height of those paddings which in turn will help in holding the tank more securely.
