Im sharing a friends experience, he bought an almost brand new CBR250R Gray second had for 1,10,000 which looked 100% pristine, but after riding for a few kms the bike turned out to be sour, so sour that he had to sell it back to the guy from whom he bought it and that too at 1,05,000.

I inquired at the showroom they told me 6months..
      Asking price is 1.7lacs.
      Attaching images of the damage
Owner cited reason for the damage
The bike skidded on a narrow road with mud n rocks at slow speeds.
the exaust shield (silancer cover) costs 450 rs so its not a big problem to get it replaced but 1.70 is too much for it here in delhi (karol bagh) cbr is for sale in 1.40 to 1.60 depends on std and abs version.

recently got insurance of my cbr and saw the new on road price 1.64 in delhi and i bought it in 1.57 std.

now its totally depends on your city on road price.
if you can get it in 30k less then on road price then it can be a gud deal.
Hero Honda Karizma: 2008 - SOLD
      Yamaha R15 : 2010 - SOLD
      Honda CBR 250R : 2011

Of course Karol Bagh price will be cheaper than Bombay price plainly because the bike itself is cheaper in Delhi than in Mumbai (Where OTR price is more like 1.99 lac.)

As for the exhaust heat plate, if that's metal, you will get 90% reimbursement. Even if you don't, its just 450 bucks, so its not a big deal.

          @Thread starter.
The June 2011 is the first batch of CBR's, i suggest go for new one!

@Antz remember the first lot of CBR's and their issues! DK had to replace 13bolts from the engine block.

@Thread Starter again. The waiting period told is because you dint look a serious buyer to them that's why (i may be wrong too)
The same case happened when i went to book my r15, they said 45 days, repeated meets and ensuring them that iam handling out the finances and everything i got it in 4 days after making a loan from other bank, not even their finance.

You need to give them assurance that you are interested in buying their product. I do not mean to say that from 6months it will be down to 4 days but who knows.

My sincere advice would be go for a new one.

            How does this matter?

The bike is just a year old. And all that stuff will be taken care of under warranty, IF those parts haven't been changed already.

Going for a new one makes sense to me only if you will be opting for finance. If paying cash, you get the extra option of buying pre-owned (in this case pre-worshipped)

Warranty would be anyways over or hardly 27days left. Honda provides one year warranty only.

He would be lucky if those parts have been changed, but then again since the cost is 1.70 the best thing would be go for new one for Rs 1,62,549 (checked on their website)

Says who? The warranty is 2 years or 32k km whichever is earlier.

As for your second argument, it would be like telling someone to buy a Stunner instead of a Karizma because the former is cheaper by 8 grand as compared to a 700km used ZMA. In the process forgetting *why* someone buys a ZMA over a Stunner in the first place.

My apologies for the 1 year warranty thingy, well then still i would suggest to go for new one. Antz is correct in regards to the above explanation, why would one go for something else, its just me that a new one would make it mine completely, thats a perception and no logic based.

All the best to the thread starter.

about 1.2~1.3 Lacs would be a good deal.
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

CBR does not have a 6mons waiting period, enquire at other showrooms.

I agree. When most of the dealers were quoting a waiting period of 15 days, I was lucky enough to get the bike in stock with a showroom. Got it delivered in 2 days.

Still 6 months is too long for CBR in today's time.

                              pre owned cbr 250r

A 1 year owned CBR with upto 5000 kms is worth 1,20,000 for std version & 1,30,000 for abs version.
Guys pls remember deprciation, warrenty, higher interest rate for loan, lower resale value,2`nd owner on the registration documents, initial maintaince, polishing cost etc.
A pre owned bike is pre owned whether 1 day or 1 year old,buy it only when it is very reasonable,
CBR is very reliable so 700kms or 5000kms won`t make much difference.
No where is CBR is having long waiting period of few months, if that is the case then buy it from where it is immediately available, just get a temporary registration done, transport it to your place & get a permeanant registration done it wont cost more than 3-4 Ks. After all a new bike is a new bike.
