  • Help Needed on Hero Honda CD100

Hey friends im trying to restore my dads 2000 hero honda cd100. its been sitting idle since 4.5 years and decided to give it a proper wash today ,even then the vehicle was almost rusted. i removed the tank and it was full of rust inside i tried to clean it with petrol with few nuts and bolts inside and voilent shaking. but i noticed that the fuel tap had completely rusted and needed replacement

    well i have some querries

1.I would like to replace the engine oil and dont know how to drain the existing oil in the engine,i cant seem to figure it out can someone help me(a pic would be helpful) and what engine oil should i be using??

2.i have included the pic of the fuel tap. will i get replacement in hero honda spare stores??

3.what should i be checking,i mean all the do's and dont's to get a hope that the engine will start before even giving it to mechanic.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

rust inside the tank will form again after some time. better get it coated with some anti-rust treatment or do an electrolysis treatment.

clean the carb, change/check spark plug, change air filter, clean air box, check air box for holes, check/change fuel lines, clean and lube chain, change tyre & tube, check rims for rust & damages, change battery, check electrical wires for damages, change all control cables, change fork oils & oil seals.

Also get the clutch case opened and get the inside cleaned with diesel or kerosine and also clean the centrifugal oil filter (rotor filter as called by mechanics) and oil strainer (if equiped).

another optional stuff is decarboning of engine (by manual dismounting of cylinder head)
      * for first time, use any diesel engine oil and change it after 200-500kms interval.

1.Remove the carburetor and clean it.
2.Remove the spark plug and put few drops of engine oil through the spark plug hole and use kick-starter to lubricate the bore.(Without sparkplug)
3.Drain the old oil and Use Motul 3000 4t plus 20W40 engine oil.
4.Operate the clutch a few times to release the stuck plates.
        5.Change the spark plug.
6.Clean or replace the air filter.

To drain the engine oil, remove #17 bolt.(Do not remove the othe #14 bolt)
Replace the drain bolt washer with a new one.

If you cant find the bolt,PM me and I will send you a picture.

Also Try posting your query in splendor ownership thread because splendor/passion/cd have almost same engines and share many parts .
