  • New Pulsar 220f fork sluggishness!

Hi folks, I bought a new Pulsar 220f and it's done 1050 kms till date (a month old)...first free servicing is over and as usual service centre guys didn't do anything except change the crap oil called BAJAJ DTSi 10000. But i have few problems:

    1. The fork or the front shock absorber movement is really sluggish, the bike dips down while braking hard but the rebound of the fork is kind of sluggish or i can say there is no response! literally the handle bar goes up and down with the wheel movement, it feels as though the bike doesn't have any shock absorbers at all!

    2. There is a sound which emanates from the rear disc pad touching brake disc intermittently when not braking.

These problems were told repeatedly to the servicing centre guys but as i had expected they didn't care to check these! Anybody who knows and understood my problem...please suggest a solution! And which engine oil would be more suitable for P220F, from second free service? Motul/Veedol/valvoline? Semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

PS: Any outside mechanic who can solve these problems in bangalore?

Suspension forks have a big and a small hole for oil entrance and exit, so that the suspension compresses easily and quickly, but rebounds slowly, (not immediately, giving you an equal opposite jerk).
So, are you sure that there is actually a problem with the front forks? Did you get them opened anytime in the past?

As for the rear disc, its actually been a matter of complaint from some owners over the years. Only P220 owners themselves can say something about this.

I see that you are from Bangalore. Have you been getting the bike serviced at Khivraj?

If yes, please switch to Auto Service, Banshankari and get all the issues resolved properly.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

        Not at khivraj!

@Samarth: I am sure there is a problem! My unicorn used to be so responsive that even at quite bad roads i could ride comfortably!

@antz: thanks for the suggestion will try that after free servicing and i am not getting it serviced at khivraj currently, its koramangala popular bajaj service. But i will try the above next time! Thanks again!

          Hey Hrishikesh 4833,

Front fork : Make sure both forks are aligned. I had a friend who complained of misaligned fork and got it replaced under warrenty. Try this simple test to check if oil and springs are working... just push the bike on level ground and engage front brake.. you should see half of the front fork to compress and the rebound will be immediate push back, if you hear any squeaking sound or harsh thud noise .. then there might be some issues with the seals or the springs are not properly loaded.

Oil : Wait for 5K (city break-in condition). Then you can shift to fully synthetic or semi-syn. Any changes now will surely result in oil seal going kaput and eventual leak.

Rear brake : Not much to do about it, since your P220 is brand new, I would suggest to wait for few more klicks until this is worn out and then you can change it to Bajaj stock or Bosch. Sound after/without engaging rear brake has been a pain point for all new P220 owners. I clean mine with brake cleaner from Wurth and in monsoon, well you really can't help it cause all slush end's up on the disk no matter what.

          Ride safe.

            @Prith

Prith Thanks for the suggestion. When i press the the fron brake on level ground as you said the forks make a metallic churning noise! which i think should not be the case...I will go to the dealer now!

Regarding brake pads, are you suggesting using Bosch aftermarket ones are better?
