  • Unicorn 2005 Engine Burning Oil

I possess a unicorn 2005 model. It has done 63.5k kilometres. The bike is burning engine oil for some time. The dip stick measures low engine oil at 1000kms and no engine oil at around 1200kms. It went un noticed at times, because apparently there is no white smoke at rpm's upto 8k. White smoke appears at 10k rpm. I am new to Hyderabad, and have serviced my bike at two Honda service centres, Orange Honda and Pratul Honda. Pratul Honda quoted an approx 9k for engine over haul, while Orange Honda quoted an approx 11k for the same. I need an advice on engine overhaul. The mileage is around 48km/h and power seems to be ok. It touches 80-90kmph easily.

Is there a reliable mechanic near Gachibowli or Chandrayangutta who can assess the engine requirement . I am totally unsure of what to do.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Busted valves & valves guides can also cause oil burning. If this is the case, engine overhaul is not (so) needed.
Best bet is to get engine head opened and examine the top part of engine.

It is best that you find a reliable mechanic who does the job for you.SVc's normally charge more. When I replaced the block piston of my artr180 the SVc quoted 9K and the same I got done from my mechanic at less than 4K.If you are new to the area then ask any other bikers from the area for reference to a good mechanic.

SOrry for the late reply. I do not have a laptop for some time. I do not know any good mechanic in Hyderabad. I am new to XBHP, therefore was hoping to bump into a Hyderabadi chap who owns a unicorn and knows some reliable mechanic over here.

Can Moderators change the name of thread to include, "Looking for reliable mechanic in Hyderabad"
