  • 2 Air Filters At A Time

    Hello Folks,

I had gone to the Yamaha authorized service center yesterday and saw a person fitting Two air filters (Stock + K&N inside) to his R15.

Came to know that the person was two time champion at a national level racing event. So I was just wondering why would he put 2 filters in his bike.

Any PROS n CONS of this modification?

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Had he put the k&n outside the airbox and sealed the airbox with stock filter???

If yes, then i think he was doing this for the crankcase breather which would be inside the stock airbox.

If no then rather increasing, airflow would suffer as there would be more restriction.

A poser friend of mine used to brag that he had two filter, i.e K&N and Stock. And hence his bike was double powerfull.

If you're worried about the crank case breather then go for the OEM Enfield Duckbill Breather.

And a national champion just race's, so he might not be aware of the technical aspects. Last month when went to Tirupati, when the engine warning light on the Indica was lit up, the driver panicked and started beating the dash board. What shows here is that he's good at what he does i.e driving, but totally naive about the technical aspects of the car.

Come on Ashwin, we are talking about a 2 Time National Champion. He ought to know the mechanicals to a certain extent and would certainly have a team to tend to his mechanical issues. His bike would have been modified to a certain extent.. but then again, we dont really know which group he competes in.. could be the novice group. not really sure how that works.
