  • Can Karizma ZMR be modified to look like Karizma R?

I was wondering if this is actually possible? I'm a huge fan of the zma R and have been riding one for 4 yrs now but I want the ZMR goodies in my bike like FI, nitro suspension and rear disc brakes...so I thought why not buy a ZMR and modify it to look like zma R?
The ZMR has clip on handle bars...so will the zma R front fairings fit on it? or will I have to do some adjustments....basically I want a bike that looks like zma R on the outside but from inside its a ZMR....has anybody else thought of this same thing? any help on this will be greatly appreciated

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Lol, double post.

Anyways as I said before, It can be done, but you'd have to purchase all the ZMA fibers and fuel tank which'd round upto a whooping 25K, Plus the ZMA Meter console which'd again set you back by a 6k. In short you'd have to shell out 31K for this retro mod. You can save 7K's by sticking with the ZMR tank but as I mentioned before, there's be excess space between the front fairing and the tank.

So think wise. A better option would be to add rear disks and nitro suspension to your ZMA, which'd cost a total of 18.5K's. This is better easier and cheaper than the earlier mentioned option. But here you'll miss the Fi part.

      Think wise.

      2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
      2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)

why not go the other way around and just add these parts to ur existing zma-r??
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

Sell the ZMR and buy a ZMA-R
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

I too wish Hero discontinues ZMR and put all the features of ZMR in ZMA. Even now, with huge competition, I see many new ZMAs on the road. Hero can sell very good numbers if Karizma with ZMR features is introduced.

I just bought a 2012 ZMA-R and I am working the other way round and I would recommend you do the same. The current ZMAs are better in mileage as compared to old models, though a bit down on power. I used to own a 2008 ZMA and this current model feels far smoother than that. It's like riding a more powerful Unicorn :P
I have been reading the Karizma thread for the past week and skimming through the wealth of knowledge from all the experienced members there. Kudos to their efforts to improve a legendary bike.
The list of changes I am working on are:
              1. ZMR clipons
              2. Replacing all the stock lighting with LEDs to put off the load from the smaller battery. Swap out the flasher relay with the Splendor + one since ZMA's stock flasher is load dependent .
              3. Replace the rear fender and ugly indicators with the ones from Hunk.
              4. Lighten the bike by removing the saree guard and the reflector bit in the middle.
              5. ZMR's rims and rear disc setup. Hunting junkyards and rto/police auctions for that.

I will be keeping the suspension as is, since the ZMA feels like heaven after riding around on my CBR250R. (Yes I know I am growing old )
              For power, there's always Joel.

What matters to me more in ZMR is the FI system and clip-ons. With FI, you get more FE and linear pick-up than ZMA's engine, which is very important for touring. Whatever you do you can't retrofit the FI system in ZMA. Clipons you can add, but its expensive procedure and the ignition key assembly protrudes out like a spike, which destroys the looks if it. GRS shocks would be good, but ZMA's
suspension is well-sorted out and cheaper to maintain. Remaining all features, you can retrofit happily.

Add to it, the cost of converting to FI would be monumental, if in case it's possible. Hence it's not on my list as much as I would like it to be sadly.

I think it is possible. My friend converted his cbz xtreme to ZMA.He brought all side panels, clip on etc as second hand from some one who use his zma for stunting. It didn't cost much I think. So if CBZ can be converted then surely ZMR can also be converted.

Sorry for going OT, can you please put a line on why you like the ZMA than the CBR?
(I've read/heard a lot on legendary ZMA from our HERO and always liked the bike though I never got a chance to ride one)

As I said, in terms of comfort the ZMA's suspension is better suited than the CBR for bad roads. The seat is lot comfier too.
I needed a second bike since I couldnt take the CBR250R everywhere without people spitting on it or hanging off it's rear view mirrors while it was parked. I know I could have bought a 'better' bike at this price point but there's something about the ZMA that brought me back. That fuss free 223cc mill is to die for. Heart over mind I guess. And I dont regret the decision a bit.
The CBR is like a sniper rifle. It's hardcore and precise. The Karizma is more of an AK47. Simple and dependable.

you see ZMA-R more on roads as its cheaper then ZMR..If Hero adds up all those goodies in ZMA-R then its price will shoot up & will be in comparison with ZMR & at that point many buyers will go for ZMR as it has fresher looks in comparison with ZMA-R..along with full fairing which most Indian like

as per topic goes, converting a ZMR into a ZMA-R doesn't even sound like a nice option..moreover I would suggest you to stick with ZMA-R if you like it so much & add goodies on it apart from PGM-FI..
