  • hard side racks?

Are there any rugged and hard side case options available for luggage carrying?

The side cases offered by Studds or similar brands are low capacity. I am looking for bigger options

If there are no bike-specific choices, I am also okay for hard bags or boxes which can be mounted. Getting metal panniers made is one option but was keen on fiber or hard plastic material.

    Query Approved

There is a dedicated Universal Thread for this topic here:

General Biking Discussions: Questions, complaints, concerns, rants & everything in between, of course related to biking.

But still I am approving so that your query gets more attention.

Yes, you need to import from abroad; as you've shown in the pic, Givi is leader in making them.

PS - Are you on world tour? Reason to ask is, these days I feel just a tail bag is sufficient for even a 10 days trip; mantra being, carry less, travel light & enjoy more

I have a Givi 28 liters (1 helmate capacity) top box. Bought it from a Vega helmates dealer in Pune for about Rs.1700. It comes with a base plate and you have to fabricate a metal rack to mount it all. For another Rs.500 I had all this done and now it looks great on my P220 and I can keep a lot of gadgets clothes etc dry and locked safe locked.

I was looking for a 32liter or even a 38 liter (2 helmates) box but find not find one.

The side boxes from Givi are very expensive (30 to 40K INR) and not yet available in India. So for now I use Cramster saddlebags.

That black rod attached to the rear shock absorber, what is that? Is it the rack you were talking about? If this top box can be fitted without having to install the rack then it would have been perfect.

            Guys

If you are in Chennai, there is a guy who is preparing fibre boxes as per your requirement and design, he had a lot of collection & I had approached him once for my RE Lightning 535, had showed him the design from one of the HD books, he said he can do it. But due to my relocation, I couldnt get that done. I missed out his contact details, but there is somebody who can get this.

You can contact Seshan (9840341166),he might not give you the contact of the person, but refer my name and am sure he would help in getting the contact.

If you are a RE fan, just go sit with this guy and the kind of knowledge he has on this machine will amaze you.
