^^^ sounds like a vapour lock issue. When the bike is left in the sun, a pocket of vapour is forming somewhere in the fuel system. When you try to start the bike, the pocket of vapour prevents fuel from flowing and developing the necessary pressure for the FI to work.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

ya, useually on coming back from vacation, i generally refuel in a day or two, that means within say 50 kms, maybe that helps...Originally posted by psr View PostMy problem was first with a Carb., Esteem and then with my KB100.In KB for nearly 45 days I had not taken the vehicle for a spin..I had about 3 liters of petrol in it..when i started using it, everything was ok for the first 50 odd kms and then the problems started. The bike would suddenly cut off and will not start...after a few times, I found that the float needle was sticking and not allowing petrol to flow into the carb...Again after draining the tank and cleaning up the Carb., fully, the problem did not repeat so far..
I guess again you had been one of the lucky person....or you might have filled in some Fresh petrol within a few kilometers, thereby diluting the effect...I am just guessing....In a four stroker either the valves become sticky or the Carb float pin gets stuck, not allowing petrol to flow..These are the problems I faced with Old Petrol ..
or may be dual spark plugs help burn even if the fuel is not proper..
yes it can be a simple vapour lock also...Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View Post^^^ sounds like a vapour lock issue. electricals stopped because of disconnection of main supply from the battery as the mechanic was trying to make a makeshift for the pump. Still the issue is there, in all these days it was raining in our town and the bike was working perfectly but today its again so hot outside and bike's pump has also stopped. I was quite happy in these days as I was thinking that the problem is resolved. Alas! Please tell me if there's any mechanic who can fix the problem of the fuel pump.
Thanks.Ādhrith

If there is a vapor lock problem, then can it be solved just by opening the Fuel Tank lid??Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View Post^^^ sounds like a vapour lock issue. Only thing I can say - "The storm is coming"

Doubtful. Actually, the vapor lock will not occur in the fuel tank. Vapor lock normally forms near heat source i.e. where the fuel line is exposed to engine heat. Since the fuel pump on the R15 is inside the fuel tank it is highly unlikely that the fuel pump it self is having a vapor lock. The most likely place where the vapor lock is forming is between the fuel pump and the throttle body. Therefore, the line between the fuel pump and the throttle body needs to be checked and isolated from heat.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostIf there is a vapor lock problem, then can it be solved just by opening the Fuel Tank lid??Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

this fuel pump issue is on Yamaha's part many svc in pune know this, the problem is the fuel pump itself.. do follow up with Yamaha and pester them only then they admit it's a fault on there side.. this fuel pump issue is still there in some bikes duly confirmed from my friend who is a supervisor in Yamaha.. even they have sent reports to Yamaha on this issue many times..
make sure that you follow up the showroom and Yamaha at the same time.

Fuel Pump issue.
Yes I talked with the Yamaha Service Engineer of our area but he seems like he don't want to cooperate with me. Actually 2 years ago my bike's factory installed fuel pump was replaced under warranty just because of the same problem. And now its already 4th year of the bike and the servicing dealer told me that the company will not change the module under warranty for this time as electricals have only 2 years limited warranty. I don't want spend Rs 8K right after every 2 years that's why I am asking you guys for mechanic who can fix this fuel pump issue.Originally posted by tejasmph View Postthis fuel pump issue is on Yamaha's part many svc in pune know this, the problem is the fuel pump itself.. do follow up with Yamaha and pester them only then they admit it's a fault on there side.. this fuel pump issue is still there in some bikes duly confirmed from my friend who is a supervisor in Yamaha.. even they have sent reports to Yamaha on this issue many times..
