  • [Photo Feature]: Petrol Tank dead(?) And Insurance claim after few months query And few more related.

My bike had an accident in April 2012 where it caused damages to my handle bar, leg guard and petrol tank. Images of Petrol tank are given below, please check.

The two ends of my handle bar kissed each other ( because I skidded like Hrithik Roshan in the movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, where I straight when in the truck) so I replaced handle bar along with the Leg guard. Bought the same from a Suzuki Showroom. I did not do anything to the Petrol Tank's dent and its still the same.

No Insurance Claim Was Ever Made

Now few weeks back the Air Vent of my Petrol tank choked up causing tension in the tank when water goes in after rain. Here the water did not go out via the hole but stood there and as soon as I open the tank cap, there is a blast of water & air.

Also 2 days back I kept the Cap loose so that no tension is made and there can be no stalling of bike. I forgot its rainy season. My tank had too much water. When I opened the Cap to shut it tight, I could see the water going in the tank & I was helpless.

I rode the bike with hell lot jerks because I had to reach college for exams. 20KMS per day x3 days. 2 liter petrol sucked up.

    Yes! Tank is DEAD

One of the best mechanics in Mumbai, Reddy refused to clean the tank arguing that its of no use and the Tank Cap is not available in Open Market. He wants me to go directly to a Suzuki Workshop & claim insurance

    Questions you please answer.
    1. Do you think this tank's rust can be gone if cleaned properly with petrol & all Anti-rust things ? Or its dead yeah ?

    2. Can I claim an insurance now for the replacement of Tank after all these months ? Will I not be asked as to why I did not claim insurance for my Handle Bar & Leg Guard? Can I claim insurance of these two also since I have bills of them ? My friend's brother works in the Suzuki workshop so no worries of the Quotation.

    3. Will there be any sort of Police complaint while making insurance claim ?

I'm in a problem so tell me whatever you can please.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

claim the accident happened last week but keep to the same story and say you needed the bike urgently so you changed the handlebar.

if you know the workshop people it shouldnt be a problem right? or ask the service people if you can claim after one month or call insurance customer care.
      Regardless, Life shall go on.
