  • Is this common in RX 100 ?

    Hi All,

I took out my bike early morning, wanted to check the power of my RX 100. But there are certain doubts/issues that I noticed that would need clarification on.

    1) I was driving at 70-80kmph and bike would make a screeching sound. Like a very loud and sharp noise.I am not talking about engine, its the whole bike would sound that way. Is this common ? This happens everytime I realised , but today when I took out the bike, I wanted to see if I can cross 100kmph but was not comfortable after hearing the sound of the bike.

    2) What is the comfortable speed at which RX 100's run(without make a lot of noise)?

3)What are the ideal top speed that one is able to reach in each gear ?

My top speeds in each gear is as follows
    1st - 15-20kmph
    2nd - 25kmph
    3rd - 50kmph
4th - 80kmph?(As of now...did not try to go further).

    Kindly provide your valuable inputs.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Check if you have adequate engine gearbox oil, and also 2T oil in tank..if you are using pre-mixed ensure 3 %..If using oil pump in bike then check and adjust for higher output to take care of higher requirement at high speeds.

        2. 70-80kmph provided there are not much crosswinds.

Top speeds, shift pattern in ripping mode
3.1st - Not too sure. As soon as the bike moves, I shift to second.
        2nd - 40kmph
3rd - 60kmph can torture it to take it till 70kmph.
        4th - 100kmph

All speedo indicated on a 2.5*18 front tyre.

Not too sure about the ideal speeds though. I normally shift from 2-3 at 30kmph, 3-4 at 40kmph and then maintain a steady 40-60.

Thank you guys for providing your thoughts.
As per the gearbox oil, i had the bike serviced a month ago and so go that changed.

With respect the top speeds, I don't rev the engine too hard.Is it common for engine to be so loud when you rev so hard. I mean I am new to RX and not sure if the bike is suppose to sound so loud when the speeds crosses 60-70kmph ?

Also, is there anything I could do make it sound smoother ?
