  • what is the use of oil stainer in hyosung 650

got first service of gt 650 n done. The mechanic at the service center did not clean the stainer, as the service manual states, upon my questioning he said it is not necessary............if the oil filter is there then what is the need for the stainer ?

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Dirt which flows with oil is trapped on the oil filter.
Dirt which settles down and is heavier than oil settles on oil strainer and on the lowest part of oil sump.

Then there is vitually no risk that it will enter the cylenders and damage the engine.....or not ?

Well, the risk is there. Its like 98-99% (my guess figure) of metallic debris is out with the oil. Rest is the duty of filter & strainer.

On the domestic bikes like the P220 there is a oil strainer inside the engine i.e the clutch case needs to be opened in order to be able to access the oil strainer.

Its recommended at regular intervals that the oil strainer be cleaned as prescribed by the manufacturer. Its a bit tedious process and would require one to open the clutch case and hence many service centers miss or omit this. If recommended in your owners manual I suggest you get it done.

ya its true most of the time its tedious process

have to remove the crankcase covers to remove the strainer and clean the mesh with solvents
