    Expecting Royal Enfield Thunderbird

    Hi All,

    I had booked Royal Enfield Thunderbird (red)in May 2012. The dealer informed me yesterday that its ready for delivery and I can have have in 10-12 days after making payment.

    Is there anyway to find out from engine number or frame number that the bike I am going to get the recently manufactured and I am not being sold some rejected or older piece?

    Appreciate if anyone can please share their experience.

      Here is the VIN of TBTS dealer has allotted to me - ME3U38SC0CG166814.

      Can anyone please decode this?

          Thanks satyenpoojary,

          Though that article is not complete , I could guess that mine is 2012 model from the 10th letter.
          Also , 11th letter is G , so I could guess if that's for month then its a July model.

          Is that correct? are other letter of any importance?

            yours is 2012 model july make. mine was june made 2012 model. so no worries enjoy if u need any other help feel free to ask .

                  I saw the bike at dealer's warehouse and I was happy with it. I have paid the balance amount and should get it in the beginning of September.

                  Can anyone suggest a good place in Mumbai to buy crash bar , saree guard and other items?

                  I am looking for a crash bar like the one attached.

                    I was talking about workshop manual not owners manual. As engine and most of the electricals are shared between classic 350 and TBTS so this manual is very helpful but any ways i was just trying to help.

                          Congrats bro. take care of speed and load for first 1200-1600 km.Look out for any leakage from kick shaft seal left and right gearbox outer chamber covers .Hope fully it wont be there but if it comes get it sorted out .also check for chain slackness adjusters on both sides to be on equal teeth bec mechanics have tendency to adjust them at different levels.Check out for water leakages in headlight and meters , and last thing check out for any rust formation under handle T joint or under fuel tank.These all thing are under warranty nad make full use of warranty period.also check for any bubble formation on fuel tank paint or else where.If u have any questions feel free to ask .I have been gaining knowledge on TBTS since last one month (my bike is one month old)

                              Thanks oilburner for the tips, I will look out for the spots you have mentioned.

                              One question for you and others.
                              My bike is just 6 days old and has done 25 -30kms so far. The dealer & RE has advised to maintain max speed of 60kmph for the first 500kms.

                              Do you think its OK to ride long distance on a brand new bike? Since I have never done any such rides hence I am not sure.

                              Appreciate if you could please advice.
