    Fz 16 chain trouble

    Hi guys I am father of Pruthviraj & I need advice on how to remove the kinks which have appeared in my Fz 16 `s chain.This past month I was not able to ride the bike due to rainy climate in Pune.Last month I pressure washed the King of the Road Fz 16,parked it in a garrage & covered it.I have been using my car for the last month.Today morning when I took out the bike it felt heavy so I sprayed the chain with chain lube,checked air & went out.Everything except the rear wheel felt ok.Now when I returned home in the evening I checked & found out that the chain was very tight & it has developed kinks at 4/5 places.I immediately loosened the chain & again sprayed it with the chain lube,but no effect it still has all the kinks.Is there some remedy for this problem ?Has the links in the chain rusted completely ? Has anyone come across such problem in their bike chains in rainy season?
    Pls advice.

    Sir, you appear to be parent of the rider. I think by "kinks" you mean "Frozen Links"? Are you talking about Frozen Links whereby a link of the chain freezes in its position and doesn't budge even on chain's movement and running?

    Over the internet, some suggest identifying the frozen links first, then lubing the chain, taking pliers and bending and re bending (mobilizing) the frozen link by holding both sides, and then lubing again... How effective it is, I haven't verified as yet.

      I don't think a seal o-ring chain could effectively work with prying it with pilers. Seems like the o-seal was damaged on some parts of the chain so those parts may have rusted inside. He can possibly get the chain removed and inspected so that these links can be replaced. Even soaking entire chain overnight in oil bath is good idea but then o-seal is effective in not letting the oil get in or out so the damaged o-rings links need to be replaced, if there are more than couple of links with busted o-rings then its better to replace the entire chain.

        Clean it with Kerozene\Chain Clean
        Allow the muck to drop
        Clean it with a cloth
        Again clean it with Kerozene\Chain Clean
        Wipe it clean, and now lube it

          Chain Lubrication

          Hi All,

          Planning to by Chain spray for my bike(FZS).

          Can anyone suggest which brand will be best and for how many kilometer once we have to lubricate the chain.

            it is advisable to lube the chain every 5-600KMs
