  • mileage and carburetor tuning

    hello friends,
I'm hrushikesh.I own a herohonda splendor plus, model 2008.Recently I have got a problem with my bike.I got it serviced by a local mechanic. he cleaned the carburetor and general servicing. From that day the bike was having lot of troubles firstly in 1st gear it was stopping and the bike was giving lot of hickups and was stopping a lot in traffic. So I tuned the carburetor but still the same problem and also it was not holding the slow beat. After servicing the problems where there but it was giving a mileage of 75kmpl but after I tuned the carburetor its mileage dropped suddenly to 54kmpl and it is still persisting since 6 months I got it serviced by another mechanic he has replaced clutch and accelerator cables, spark plug, cleaned the carburetor and clutch plates, still the same problem its stopping in between and not holding on to slow beat and giving a mileage of 54kmpl. recently another problem it is after tuning the carburetor sometimes the slow beat automatically gets increased and sometimes its reducing and stopping completely.
I request anybody to please helpme and I want to know will the head valves are related to mileage and is there any problem with the engine head..
    thankyou..

Topic Approved and moved to Help Me Section.

If the rpm gets increased and decreased so soon and starting and launching problems are there, then I think it is running lean, due to an AFR mixture change. This might have happened when that first guy tuned the carb, maybe twisting the AFR screw on the carb.
You could try seeing what the settings are for the AFR screw... but only if you know about it.

Head and valves are somewhat related to mileage, but maybe the problem is not with the head/ valves I perceive. Problem started after that first mechanic tuned the carburetor, right?

Anyways, forget all that, if you got it serviced by a local mechanic, why not try a Hero MotoCorp Authorized mechanic now and tell him to tune the Carb AFR right with a CO Machine?

^^ that is an absolutely correct advice.

go to a hero ASS, ask them to open the carb completely, all jets needles everything, then clean and re-assemble and retune the carb.

carb is s sensitive thing and you should never mess with it untill you are 101% sure of what you are doing.

      which city you are in...?

plz update your data so that city is displayed below your profile, it will be easier for fellow members to advice you a good mechanic in your city without asking you ...your city.

btw, on a lighter note--> what is a "slow beat".......buddy you can call is low RPM or idle RPM.

EDIT: there is also a dedicated thread here on xbhp for carb tunning, you can search and go through it.
