  • Karizma R Disc Problem

    Hi,

    I own a Karizma R 4.5 yrs.
Always had a good time in riding my bike and I always had very few problems.
My bike has run 25k kms.
But from 6 months, I am facing problems continuously and I am fed up.
    My current problem:
My disc is jamming the wheel. It is a just a week from servicing and the service station was not available, so I showed it to a local mechanic near my home and he just leaked little oil and said it will get better.
It was still holding and so I took it to service center today, the mechanic there told me that the disc is bent and he has to replace the disc.
I took it to another service center and he said that there must be problem with pads and it cost 2400 rupees and asked me to come tomorrow.
Next i again showed it to a road side mechanic while going back to home, he leaked the oil completely and said that the problem is actually with the front brake liver and it is not free and not pumping the oil freely. So, he told me to give him a day so that he can replace something in liver that pumps oil to the disc. for now he refilled the oil and now the braking is not firm.

That is a long story of my current problem. Hoping for a good suggestion.
    Thanks in advance.

      Get the following checks done:-
      1. Check disc pads. Replace if worn out. (Did you ever change brake pads in this 25k period?)
      2. Bleed the brake oil and replace with DOT4 brake fluid.

Ride for 10-15 kms. Braking should be 100% now. If not:-
      3. Check disc plate for bends. Highly unlikely if you never met with an accident. But, if its bent, replace immediately.

P.S - Maintain proper air pressure at all times.
      [29 front, 33 rear]

Get all checks done at the SVC/very trusted mechanic only.

FYI - Disc pads cost 1200/- not 2400/-
      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Hmm, I suggest you replace disc pads again.
Normally, disc pads go bad in 8-10k kms. So, I assume, your disc pads have gone kaput!
Does the disc keep making a screeching sound? If yes:-
          1. Change disc pads right away.
          2. Check if the disc plates have not got damaged.

Well, I don't have much idea about SVCs here. I came just a couple of months back.
          But, I find
          1. Dream Machines, Ashwath Nagar (Near Sanjay Nagar) and
          2. Royal Motors, Ashwath Nagar, Sanjay Nagar
          to be quite competent mechs.

I have experienced many HH authorised service centers since 2002 and found Nikki Motors at New Airport Rd to be the best in servicing and sincere. Others like Prakash, Majestic, Sai were not up to mark.
