  • Bore replacement of 1.5 month old 1.5kms driven suzuki gs150r

    Hi,
I am having a suzuki gs150r which I bought around 1.5 months back. It was giving me weird sound when I drive it around 60kmph speed. Also, no acceleration sometimes and cannot drive past 65kmph even if i open full throttle.
I checked with service center and complained in the company and they are replacing the bore, silencer of the bike. It was told that there is a air leakage from the bore because of which the sound is coming. As bike is under warranty, it will be free of cost.

My worry is that now the bore is replaced and it is pretty close to opening the engine of the bike. It is like touching the core of the bike, so how reliable is the bike now.

Can i ask for full replacement of bike?

Its not 'pretty close' to opening the engine of the bike. Its exactly that. But some bikes can have inherent manufacturing defect from factory. This is true for all manufacturers and this is exactly what warranty is for.

Don't worry, the bike shall remain reliable even after bore replacement.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

They replace the full bike unless you sue the case! Because if they replace you the bike then it will a big loss for them. But in warranty they never cover an entire bike replacement, but they change the bike's component causing problem!! if you needed a replacement then it should have been reported right with in a week. as it's 1.5 months and 1500kms run, they will blame you for this issue. Get the bore replace that would be fine!

Thanks for the reply guys. Really appreciate it.

I had a bike earlier and after 6-7 years of use, its engine was opened due to some issue and after that it started giving me all sort of problems.

That is why, I was really worried that I bought a new bike and its engine is also opened within 1.5 months. So, it will start giving me problems after that?

Don't worry. Even if problem occurs again, u can again get it rectifird/ replaced under warranty.

I don't think it can be done; GS150R (when it was launched) seem to have manufacturing defect with cylinder piston kit & most customers were offered a free replacement kit even if they didn't have any issues. IMHO, this MAY or may not have resurfaced & the solution seems to be the same old one - replace the parts

Replacing a Bore for a 1.5 months Old Bike?? Well i thought Suzuki is a Reliable Company and they hardly have manufacturing Defects - but yes there is always an ODD will be there
That is the Reason warranty is been provided with the Bike - so you will get the Service in free of cost Do not pay for any labor charges which they may add to the service.

Make sure that whole kit (cylinder and piston) is replaced instead of boring the existing cylinder. I hope they don't it cheap way.

I got the vehicle today... checked with the service center manager/technician about the problem.... he told me that.... they opened the bore head to check various valves.... and not the complete bore....
Later told me that, problem was with carburetor tuning, fuel was not burning completely, so there was less acceleration, jerking, lack of power above 55-60. Now, he has tuned it with CO% check and some manual tuning as well...
I tried the vehicle, felt the difference but because of traffic could not ride it at high speeds. Will be checking it at high speed tomorrow.

Thanks again for all the replies. Cheers....
