  • Fazer wont start , need help!

    Hey guys ,
My 6 month old (8k kms) fazer wont start !
I am thinking i might need to clean the spark plug , but i cant get it to come out !, i tried a lot, with the tools that they provided , but it just wont come out, is there any technique to it ?
Can you guys suggest me something else that i could check to trouble shoot the issue? Everything seems to be normal , just that the engine wont crank, i have a feeling that its missing a spark .

    Some details :
The sound of engine when i press the self-starter is fine
When i remove the petrol tube , the flow is also fine
My only doubt is on spark plug , they are the stock ones.

Please suggest me something , as i don't want to take it to SVC yet , and want to learn more about my bike by troubleshooting these issues ..

    Thanks in advance mates !

(Sorry if i posted this thread again , my last one dint get through or got posted somewhere else)

Have you tried starting it with the choke? or take the choke off and check either way.

        checking for a spark.
try removing the HT lead off the plug, rest it against the cyl block, Don't touch it or have it near flamable source.
Now crank the starter and look at the insulating boot. there should be a spark coming out of it.

Now put it back onto the plug firmly. Wiggle it while pushing down.
Try starting the bike again a few cranks.

        Starting a flooded engine.
If it doesn't start then there is a possibility it is flooded.
Hold the throttle fully open while cranking it.

To remove the plug you will need to unscrew it. Sometimes they can be very tight and possibly overtightened.
        Lefty loosey, Righty tighty.

8k is too early for spark plug to go wrong, but definitely you can check it out.
In your Fazer's tools kit you would've got a spark plug wrench, something similar to this.

You would've got it as two parts, one the wrench and the rod to put in the wrench.
Remove the sparkplug wire from the plug first.
Now put the rod in the wrench, insert the wrench into spark plug, then turn anticlockwise until the plug comes out, thats it!
Now try cranking the engine keeping the plug surrounding(metal) touched to some metal part like engine cylinder, crank case etc, and check if spark is properly coming.
But please make sure you are not directly holding the plug while checking spark, to prevent electric shock !
Instead hold it with something non-conductive like rubber, plastic etc
