  • Pulsar 150 UG3 4k to 6k Powerless Flat Spot

Hi All, I need your help to solve the problem that I'm facing in my Pulsar 150 UG3.
Firstly the changes that I've made to my bike are step holder assembly of P200, P135 tail, BA-2201 K & N air filter and P220 camshaft. (The problem below started before all these mods so there's no connection to these changes)

I recently started facing a problem that when i'm riding the bike.
The engine rev zone from 4k to 6k rpm in almost every gear feels like a dead zone with absolutely no power at all.
From 6k+rpm onwards it acts normal with the speeds also climbing up unlike the dead zone (4k to 6k rpm)

I suspected the CDI unit being faulty so I tried the method of revving the bike hard while in neutral, and the revs do not reach the redline at all. It stops at 9k rpm and revs fall down like normal. (It used to go till 10k or 11k earlier i suppose)
But again while riding the bike i'm able to rev the bike to the redline in all gears. So is it a CDI problem still? I tuned the carburetor just as mentioned in the UT but i feel like the problem is elsewhere.
Clutch plates are new and that's not the issue i believe.

This problem is very frustrating as there's no response to the twist of the throttle in 4k to 6k rpm area.
Can someone please help me solve my problem.

    Waiting for your answers.

If you suspect CDI, then just swap it from another p150 ug3. source bike can be a friend's one, or from friendly mechanic or svc.

Regarding, inability to redline, this can also be caused by K&N if you dont re-jet.

Wherever i tried asking for a CDI for my bike, they were asking for the model number and noone has the one that my bike has.I did not try swapping from my friend's bike.
I have installed BA 2201, which does not need any kind of rejetting since it goes directly like the stock filter into the filter box. Just tuning the AFR would suffice i believe.
My bike redlines while i ride it, its just that it doesn;t when its in neutral revved when parked. Don't know why that happens. :-/

P.S: And i have solved the problem of powerlessness within 4k to 6k rpm by cleaning the carburetor thoroughly. That problem no longer exists in my bike now.

Well, there's no use of reving to redline when in neutral.. Its also damaging to engine.Regarding stock replacement K&N, just be sure you ain't running lean in any rpm range, afterall its free flow filter..Btw, svc should know about cdi model no./part no.
