  • Royal Enfield Spares Question

i own a 2001 Std Bullet. the engine seized recently and i will have to get piston work done, sooner or later. Im also contemplating changing the block piston kit completely. has anyone of you used off brand piston kits for a standard bullet? the cost difference is 50%.

Regarding pistons go for Piston from reputed brand. Usually USHA is best as it is semi-forged but others like GOETZE, MAHLE and ESCORTS are good. But the cost difference between USHA and others are nearly double. However it pays to use USHA because USHA pistons doesn't expand on heating and doesn't seize. You can run tighter clearance in USHA pistons. But if possible go for OE kit. But if you find USHA then it is best. If you want i can ask my distributor if USHA makes pistons and rings for bullets.
But i also warn you that there are large number of fakes USHA, MAHLE, GOETZE pistons in market. If you happen to get fake then your bike is ruined and you will think that other pistons are not good.
Regarding OE pistons there is no thing as off market as your OE pistons will be supplied either by USHA, GOETZE,SAM, or ESCORTS.
