  • K&N 1060 Air filters on Fazer 150

    Hi Friends,

I bought a Fazer 150 last month. Could you please tell me the disadvantages of using the default air filters, if any? And the advantages of using K&N 1060 Air filters? Is that really worth the replacement?

    Thanks a lot!

There are no disadvantages of using stock filters. Almost everyone (including me) uses stock filters. Generally, K&N can increase the air flow to an engine, thereby lending it slightly better breathing. Also, they can be used for longer periods without replacement. Cleaning is required though.

You can use a K&N filter which is certified for your bike, in your stock airbox and it will be great.

But do NOT replace the stock airbox, to fit in a K&N filter meant for any other bike, ok? That would be a risky modification, will void warranty, endanger your engine, etc. And anyways, it will require changing Main jet from the carburetor.

RC1060 is a conical type filter. If your FAZER has a conical type filter from the company itself, then its ok. Otherwise if its rectangular type, then avoid it.

(I have kept RC1060 on my Pulsar for 2 months earlier but removed due to fear of extra dust entering the engine, as the filter was put directly on the carburetor without airbox.)

As some people say, does it really increase the mileage and pick up?

What is a stock airbox? Can I fit K&N on fazer without removing this air box?!

        Thanks again!

Using the search function on this forum helps a lot. What's sad is that each day such posts get approved by the moderators. There is a dedicated thread for discussions regarding air filters and such posts should not be placed anywhere else.

The use of K&N and its effects on a bike engine - these topics have been discussed to death in that thread. Still newbies never take the extra effort to search if their queries have already been answered (which most probably are).

Samarth why was this post moved to the Universal Air Filter thread?

            Hi Pavan,

I did that before asking and didn't get any relevant thread to the key query?! Also this post is about using K&N air filters on Fazer which is not in the manual of list of bikes that K&N can be fitted. If you could give me a link to the post where this is discussed for Fz16(Fazer) series, I will really appreciate your help.

            Thanks,

Shaunm, this is not exactly a "help" topic, but instead an "info gaining" topic. I misjudged that you already had a K&N RC1060 purchased, so I approved it. Please discuss Air Filters in the below link only:

And one more thing: During your bike's regular services, be with your bike and learn a lot from mechanics. An air filter is mostly under the seat, enclosed in an air box. And search a lot on youtube, google, etc. for your information, not only on Xbhp's official search.

And ask your mechanic if it is rectangular or conical air filter in FAZER.
