  • [Photo Feature]: Pulsar 220F 2012 Radiator Leak.

I purchased a Bajaj Pulsar 220F a few days back. I followed a run in period strictly before the first service.
The Speedo was not connected before the registration...(rules here) so there was no way to know exactly how many km it ran before keeping it for first service..however i kept it for service the day after registration on the belief of i ran approximately 400kms...and the mechanic told me don't worry it doesn't matter.
It took a day for service.

After the service i brought the bike home and noticed there were fumes coming from the engine..

After carefully inspecting I've found out that its not from the engine but the exhaust pipe that is coming from the engine beside the engine itself.

I let it pass as there were because of oil and i didn't know if they dripped oil on the exhaust pipe and that caused the fumes..

Another day passed and i took my bike for a ride with my friend and came home after a while...then again..there were fumes from the engine.
The worst thing was this friend with me...he started bragging about the piston and cylinder problems and i started to panic...i took my bike straight to service center shortly after.

They said don't worry its not severe case its only the oil pipe for the radiator (oil cooling) is leaking and its dripping to the exhaust pipe causing fumes.
After a while letting the engine to cool down they started working after a few minutes they said they fixed it..also it was only a "Lure" problem...( I didn't understand that word...may be i misheard it) and its alright now.

I was happy and i took it home...after two days the same problem started again...this time no fumes though...only there were oil surrounding the pipe bracket...posting pictures here..

I took it for the service once again...and started explaining the problem...they said we will fix that..and then again..one day at the service center.
At evening they said it was fixed , i took the bike from the service and before getting home i stopped beside the road to check...and it was not fixed they were still oil from the pipe bracket.I was very pissed off and took a u-turn...I said whats the meaning of this..then a group of mechanics and branch manager started working with the bike..

After 10-15 minutes they said we replaced the whole gasket, packing and things..they tested by keeping engine running for 5 Minutes.

Now i didn't notice any oil coming from them since then.
Also i didn't spend a Buck at the service station it was all free...

The Question is what was the problem.? What if it occurs in future..? What was causing the problem.? Ever happened to any of you.?

    Help.

Such a problem usually happens when those idiots at the SVC overfill the oil. No wonder your bike started smoking immediately after the service.

The problem typically goes away as soon as the excess oil burns off. Doesn't need any fixing. But what you did was absolutely correct. Better safe than sorry .
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
