  • [Photo Feature]: bajaj discover extremely poor average

    XBhpians,

I am facing very serious problem with my Bajaj Discover 112cc bike(2006 model), it' giving an average of approx 35 kmpl from last 1 year.. and till now it has just completed 38,000 km in total before 1 year it use to give an average of approx 58 kmpl....

it gets serviced on time along with oil change,

my local mechanic adviced to change the piston and the walves for the average issue, i got it changed approx 5 months back..no results.

further i was adviced by 2 good local bike mechanics to change the carburater. get changed the carburater last week.. still the issue is same.

    it's realy frustating, plz advice...

Did you check the clutch? Is there a tacho on the Discover 112? If yes, then a healthy Discover 112 (or Caliber 115) should do 40kmph on speedo@4k RPM in 3rd gear.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Are you sure not running on a super rich AFR, I remember some member reporting the same problem and the culprit was a rich AFR, check that. Also change the petrol bunk, poor quality of fuel can also cause a drop in mileage.

          It can be many things...
          Air filter should be cleaned
Carburettor should be cleaned and adjust
There should be no leak in o-rings from the intake manifold to the input of head
          Timing should be perfect
          Tappets should be perfectly adjusted
          Spark should not be weak
There should be no leak of oil to the combustion chamber
          Clutch plates should be ok
Chain sprocket should be cleaned and adjusted
          Tyre pressure should be accurate

First let me know about everything in detail
and try if u can post the picture of your spark plug
and how do u feel the compression when u kick?? Is it soft or hard?
