  • Advice Wanted before Unicorn Purchase

Hello everyone. Thank you for going through my article in advance.

I have decided to buy a Honda CB Unicorn (not Dazzler) around Diwali 2012, Kolkata. Before going on and booking my bike I would like to have your advice on-
    a) Which discounts and goodies I can ask for during the festive season?
    b) When I get my bike which things should I check before delivering?
    c) I would also like to attach a gps tracker to locate my bike in case of theft. Will it hamper the warranty of the bike?

      Yes if it involves in cutting the electrical wires;

BTW, there're simple solution to it; use...
XENA Security Disc-Locks, Alarms and Accessories for Motorcycles and Scooters OR Alarm Padlock | Alarm Padlocks and Security Alarms,Siren Padlock,Heavy Duty,Disc Lock,Cable Lock,Multi Purpose Padlocks - Kabrus

Because, they don't involve in such juggad + no fear of warranty loss + prevention is better than cure

Alternatively, these are available too - :: 2 Wheeler Alarm with Remote Start Systems ::

But don't know how much of easy these are to install & most importantly don't know if they help to void the warranty

You didn't get the joke I meant & took the post literally, never mind

You have to get them imported from US of A or UK or order through ebay or get them through 20North, ICC etc. But they're worth the time, money & effort.

Thank you for your information on the gps gadget but it seems they will be difficult to procure in Kolkata.

but what about the things I should check when the bike is delivered to me?

                    Hello blackhawk,

Firstly, thumbs up for weighing logic over emotion on matters such as purchasing of a motorcyle !

There's a very comprehensive article on Pre-delivery inspection (PDI) here:

Pre-delivery inspection (PDI) checklist and tips for your new motorcycle part 1 | ROYAL ENFIELD MOTORCYCLES

Amongst this, you can enlist the points you feel important / useful so that you don't miss out anything on D-day.

Also, when you have spent a hefty sum of ~ 80K,
an additional 10~15% expenditure on quality riding gear is a worthy investment.

Protects you againts road rash, bad weather, dust, muck . . .plus you look cooler in it !

The Universal ownership threads should help you regarding queries after your purchase.

I don't think Unicorn is a good decision now!! Where as Hunk or CBZX share the same engine and have dual disc options. Then why a Single Disc Bike??

Dont like the looks of CBZ. Am a new learner, dont want to buy dual disc right now. After a few years when I upgrade to a new bike, a dual disc would be a must.

Went for quotation to showroom. they are saying
on road price: 75486 + accessories
                              Downpayment: 40644
                              HDFC giving loan at 9.9%
                              And EMI comes to 1444*34months

                              But

at Bike Loan EMI Calculator | Honda Bike Loan EMI Calculator
whn i fill in the loan amt (Onroad - downpayment)
                              It shows Emi as Rs.1123*36months

Very much puzzled. Cant understand why there is so much anomality.
