the other silencers ( goldstar , short bottle etc.) will decrease your fuel economy ...

Thanks for the response. Fuel economy is not a issue for me as long as it is not more than 4-5 kms.
(1).Does OEM's Upswept silencer has glasswool in it or is it free flow?
(2). I hope it sounds close to the original short bottle since it looks like short bottle only with bend.
(3). Will upswept silencer look good on a UCE electra as mostly I have seen them on the classic series.

As far as the Sans Inc silencers are concerned, both the glasswool goldstar and glasswool short bottle sound more or less the same. It boils down to choosing one based on looks. The good thing about these silencers is that you don't have to retune the carb for these silencers and the fuel economy doesn't get affected (maybe -1 kmpl at the most).

Its been a month I have been researching on the various silencers that could provide me the thump missing from new series of the bullet. I left no website, no forum to find out the perfect silencer for UCE....from sans inc goldstar to shakeel to munir..from conical baffles to glasswool...to short bottle to long bottle...i read all the posts all the reviews...and then one day i decided to just go to the spare part shop called Fixwell motors[Or sandhya motors] in Bangalore in the hope of actually hearing the silencers on the new UCE bullets. I had purchased all my accessories form this shop and was their regular customer so I believed they might help me.
And yes as soon as I reach there , I met a guy with goldie silencer-that silencer was very bassy and very loud-loud enough to create sudden fear in other commuters on the road. The sound was like clouds roaring-it might be good for many but it wasn't really bullet sound.
Then I saw a guy with his UCE thundirbird and with a short bottle silencer on it. It sound decent-not too loud and good enough. I decided to enquire about the short bottle silencer from the guy in fixwell motors. I also asked him if he had indore silencer. He asked me if I wanted for new or old bullet and also asked me for which model. I said UCE electra. He brough 3-4 madras quality metal silencer and one very good looking silencer called indore silencer. The indore silencer was not a see through rather it had filter within it-a kind of jaali. A couple of other old folks insisted on indore silencer for good thump including the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper also said that I am free to check all the silncers on my bike and take whatever suits me. I was happy at that since that's what i wanted.

And then in another 5 mins-one uncle with a big mustache came roaring on his brand new electra-same bike as mine. That sound was awesome and genuine bullet sound- the original loud rhythmic phat phat sound on throttle with a hollowness or dholki like sound when you do not throttle. It was loud sound but not annoying and it was just like original bullet thump on CI engines. That silencer looked like indore silencer only still i asked uncle abt it. He said he got the bike and the silencer both from rajasthan. He told that the silencer was called "Hyderabad silencer"-I said oh again one more name in the world of bullet silencers. I asked the mechanic and he said that it is indore only. At some places indore is called hyderabad silencer.
I asked uncle to show me the idling of the bike and the idling was beautiful-the characteristic hollowness of the bullet silencer.

I decided that my search ends here. The silencer is specially made for UCE and I will go for it-may be i loose a couple of kpl with it but it is all worth. Since this indore isn't a free flow rather with a grill -i guess it would also improve the performance of the bike. The guy from fixwell asked 1200/- for it while in sandhya they asked 1000/ bucks. I saw that the silencer had indore graved on it. I am still waiting for my run in to end[ I am on 1300 kms currently] so that I can get this silencer fitted.

Let me know if anybody is using indore with grills made for UCE electra -what are his experiences.

I want to change the silencer to get the old bullet thump.. Is the indore sound like one? have you fixed it yet?

I haven't fixed it yet but as I said I have already heard the sound of indore for UCE electra on a brand new electra...it was just like old bullet thump...I am waiting for my run-in to complete before I will get it fitted...It is available in sadhya/fixwell motors at JC Road...

Hi akhtar..I just read a post in a thread in the same site by someone using indore silencer..He has said that the bike wil vibrate a lot and his gaskets fell off.. Is it a problem with all indore silencers?

I just booked a cl350. I test drove Electra and it has short bottle silencer with rubber cap and the flap fitting at the rear mud guard. The thump is real nice. Not to loud, but loud enough

I asked the dealer regarding this and he said this is a short bottle silencer by RE itself with warranty and all. Also he mentions that it can be fitted on day 1 itself without any problem. Cost would around 3.5 k including everything. Just enquire about this as well before making your decision.

I think the post that you are talking about is for the free-flow indore silencer while I am talking about the one specially made for UCE. It has grills or jaali in it...which is required for back pressure so that you do lose your performance...I suggest you to visit the sandya/Fixwell motors...within an hour you'd probably get someone using indore for their UCE so that you can ask them abt any issues they are facing.....
