    help me out

I m facing the problems with my zmr's rear disk pads my bike is 1 1/2 year old and
1st time my rear disk pad worn out was at 5000kms and i've changed it . the hh service guys told that its common usually the life is @7000kms and reason behind may be resting the foot on the brake i thought it was the first time and later on i kept this in mind while Riding and @12000kms again the rear disk pad was worned out and scratch sound is coming ,went to hh people they told that this time both pads and disk has gone(there are scratch lines on rear disk)

went to hh service center yesterday and they checked by opening the rear caliper and the mechanic told that pads had worn out one side because of the disk plate scratches and need to change both of them and there is no other thing which causes repeated pads worn out. he added if you continue with these scratch disk plate the new pads will also worn out soon .
is there any repair for my disk plate ? or should i replace it(it has scratch lines)

can i know whats the problem with my bike and its rear disk

what's the average life of a rear disk pads generally ?

Is it the fault of my bike manufacturing defect or is it my way of riding ?

is there some other problem like one local mechanic told me that the pad is worning on only one side and problem may lie in tyre ?

my riding style i used to ride daily in city where 40 % of traffic is there for 60kms of my route and when at signals and jams im on low gears, i use mostly the rear disk like 60 % and 40 %(<40) front disk as someone told that using front disk more may leads to accidents and it is used only to slow down the bike don't know if its correct and i dont overspeed my bike.
    .

the disk rear disk pads for zmr is a useless option given by the hero honda and the spares are too costly, is there any alternative for zmr pads. the pads set is 1200rs any local pads r other bikes pads which fits ?
and can we remove the rear disk and put the drum breaks like karizma zma ? if so whats the pros and cons

    thanks in advance

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

First of all change your braking habit to use of one brake to the use of both brakes simultaneously.
Secondly the braking ratio should be about 60:40 ie 60 front brake and 40 rear brake. you'll gain confidence while braking eventually.

the minimum life of front brake should be 10-12k kms and rear brakes are nearly 15k kms as mine front brakes was replaced @15-16k kms and rear brake got replaced @18.5-19k kms and the life of the rotor should be approx 40-50k kms.

If you have scratch lines on rotor then you have nothing left but change it. rear pads have no alternative afaik but front pads can be changed with RTR's pad which retails @ 350 bucks approx.

        thnks for replying

i mostly ride in city and with traffic and i use rear disk more first to slow down and then front with press and release fashion , is it not the correct way ?

whats the correct way of braking in slow movement like in traffic jams and at signals , my first preference is using rear brakes and if i had to stop suddenly i will use the front brakes this is what i have been told by many and the mechanic but if we use only front disk more we will fall down or the bikes stops suddenly if i use 60 % front brakes , i will folow your technicque but can i know in detail about this.

good to know that you have changed after 15-16k kms , i m feared of using disc brakes for my bike as its the second time in only 12k kms i had to replace pads and first time the disc plate .

is rtr front pads are same as the zmr's and will there be any effects in using rtr's brake pads like effect on disk plate or braking or any other like warranty issues ? 350 bucks is cheap zmr's is 1200 bucks

i also brake in the same way, i use rear brakes to slow down and when there is a need for stopping or slow down to the max extent, i use front brakes along with rear
my zmr has run 11,200kms and its still running on stock brake pads.
yes rtr front pads is compatible with zmr.
rtr brake pads are manufactured by bibre
and zmrs is manufactured by nissin so its costs more having the advantage of reliability
i dont encourage changing to bibre
i dont know the pros and cons of changing the pads to bibre since i havent tried

ok by changing to rtr's pads will the warranty void , and where can i get those rtr pads apart from showrooms im from hyderabad ,
and whats the alternative for the zmr's rear brake pads as i am getting this problem with only rear disk ?

i am not an expert but if you are braking in my fashion then you will have got the answer because my zmr is still running on stock
and if you have rectified that first issue that you were keeping leg on the brakes as a support then i dont see what the problem is.
may be yes, the warranty will void but i am not sure but you can talk to the manager and confirm once
i dont have a clue about hyderabad, been there once for vacation so you can ask someone from the same place
but it must be available in all the tvs svcs
no idea about rear pads alternative but i have heard people saying rtrs might work but do good research before you install

ok buddy i don't rest my foot completely on the brakes pedal but , this was the reason he said the first time , i thought i might have done that so, after changing the pads i am sure i wasnt resting

but when i put my heel on brake pedal's footrest it generally touches the brake pedal because the distance between the footrest and brake pedal is small, is this normal ? to avoid this i put my front foot under the brake pedal when not at traffic and signals because in those cases you need to use the brakes often . im a bit taller little above 6 feet
