  • HID Wiring. will this work ?

You know that HID lamps can't be power from AC supply (default bike lamps)
Connect HID to battery supply will drain battery bit faster and may be require more charging current / charging mod

I have an idea but never tested.
its power HID lamp from both battery and AC->DC supply.
if bike running idle, HID powered through battery. while increase rev, it automatically powered from AC line.

wiring is simple. two diodes and capacitor(s)

    will this work ?

i was thinking on doing something similar... only instead of just haveing a simple diode i planned on trying for a 10A bridge rectifier.. (as 35W HID take max current at startup of around 6A then stable at 4.).. let me know if you have any success.. i so want to do something

FYI the reverse happens in case of full DC bikes, that is the battery supplies the reqd. power at idling and the alternator supplies the power at high revs.
Your setup would be no different than half wave rectifier & battery in parallel. Better switch to full DC.
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

HID can also be powered by AC. You know, AC HID kit is also available in the market which are much more durable & reliable than DC Hid's.
They come with a ballast which converts DC to AC (for cars) but we already have AC supply then don't u think it can be powered directly??
But the main concern is low rmp!!
and to fulfill the current on low rpm we would need something to convert battery dc to ac or
if we add lots of bigger capacitors before regulator that will be charge during high rpm because of enough power from stator, and if it release the power when rpm goes down..... am i talking bullsit? its not gonna work.

Newer bikes can benefit from it because they have better stator where power doesn't go too much down on lower rpm.

If u want to try your circuit. I would say better first try on that Halogen bulb and see if it drains your battery. If not, than you can think of installing HID and you can also go for 25W hid because we know HID provides 3 times more illumination than normal stock bulb. Then u can expect at least 50W of illumination form that HID.

been there ...done that, this method of parallel charging does not work, a lot of guys including me have tried this years ago and failed. it does not work.

actually initially it works, but the voltage of battery charger ckt. and headlight ckt AC converted to DC is never same and either ckt burn out after some usage. there are dedicated threads for this in universal threads section, read those.
