  • How to upgrade yamaha rx100 electricals to 12volts

Hello to you guys this is kusmaker from delhi , i own a 1994 yamaha rx100 with 6 volts electricals and i want to convert it to 12 volts so can u tell me what is the right procedure for this upgradation, secondly is it possible to convert the electricals to full dc if yes then can anyone give me advice that from where in delhi i can get this job done if it is not possible then can i install 60/55w electical system , i have asked many mechanics on 12volts conversion and all of them including one mechanic name iqbal in sagarpur delhi (who think himself to be an master engineer, which he is not) said that only rectifier, flasher, battery and all bulbs are needed to convert to 12 volts , but i doublt that this is the right way, i even mailed a letter to the yamaha company and they replied in absolute no-no on this conversion so pls give me correct advice iam counting on u,if any person who read this mail and is from delhi he can call me on this no .9953953413.Waiting for ur precious reply.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Change...
      1. Stator generator (CAREFULLY...rewind the stator plate & add for more lighting coil)
      2. Wiring harness to RX135 EVEN if you 6 volt wiring harness is new to ensure matching socket from generator, lighting & RR unit
      3. RR unit has to be Rx100 12V or RX135

Yes, but less said better; get it upgraded to 100/90 kit & user 60/55 headlight & that gives more or less like output from battery. Get this kit from Ron Sir, Bangalore (RDDREAMS.COM • Index page). Go through the entire forum for a week before you post anything!!!

If you don't mind, can you please share this correspondence on then thread? I am interested to know what Yamaha has to say about 6V to 12V conversion.

For the rest of your query, aargee has already answered. I've also done the conversion in the exact manner (didn't change the coil plate & magnet; just got the coil rewinding done) as listed by aargee and the bike is running fine for over three years now.

Like I said before, you've option to rewind or buy a 90/100 kit from RDDREAMS. If you cannot find a electrician to do this job, get a new generator from the link I posted above. FYI, you need to find a AUTO ELECTRICIAN & not regular electrician who does household electrical work

I've provided the link to RDDREAMS. Please take sometime, go through the website & do your HOMEWORK & ask for specific questions & we'll be happy to assist.

Search for any forum eigther a G2G in Delhi or any touring forum where Delhi folks shared their opinions, Take their profile and PM them if they know any Auto-Electrician who does Coil winding in your area or might be their area where you have to personally go and check.

Either there's a problem with your approach or you're approaching wrong set of people. First, find out a right guy who does this job. Ping few fellow members like JD666, rx100.7050. If JD is in town, he's one stop shop for anything & everything related to Rx.
