    Honda Activa throttle problem

    I get this problem when my activa has been sitting idle for more than 8hrs(approx). Definitely happens when i start it in the morning.


    I start the scooter, it starts fine. But when I increase the throttle, the engine chokes and turns off.
    I have to increase a little, hold it there, then increase hold .......
    If I incrase the throttle to mid-setting or more, scooter runs fine. The problem is only from 0-30% of the throttle.


    Can you experts tell me what's wrong. clogged Air filter?

    I have tried using the choke. But that doesn't help.

    I bet you stay somewhere in North India. Its been cold these days. The scooter is probably showing some cold weather symptoms.
    Advice is a form of nostalgia.
    Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      get the carb opened/cleaned/checked & tuned from an experienced mech or the svc. Or if you are comfortable with doing it, start by opening the afr screw a little less than 1/4 turn out(anticlockwise) and then adjust the idle, do this for up to half a turn and don't go on turning it out or you will screw up big time.. (please note 1 full turn = 360degree). do this on a warm engine(ride the bike for a few minutes before you tune the carb) and also get the valve clearances checked.

        Issue with AFR; clean & fix the carb. No issues otherwise.
