  • Petrol tank has a small hole!

So, I just inherited a Pulsar 150 2003 model from my dad after I started my first job. The bike is as you can count, around 9 years old and was rarely used (has done only 11k all these years).

As it was mostly kept in open & I lived at a place with high humidity, the chrome has got all rusty. Recently, like 1 year ago or something, my garage space was being painted and the dumb guys put some kind of chemical on the tank. It started with kind of blisters on that tank which were later visible as rust patches & now the tank has a small hole now.

If I shake the bike to check for petrol or something, sometimes petrol sometimes comes out of those holes. What is the solution to this? I am planning to buy Triumph Street Triple as it comes in early 2013 so don't want to spend much money on this bike. What are my options? (Anyways, how much will replacing a petrol tank cost?) As of now, it's kind of fine because I don't fill more than 2 litres at a time & do city rides only but I am worried that petrol would be evaporating all the time from the tank.

The only safe way to keep using the bike is to change the fuel tank since its actually very dangerous to ride the bike in such a condition. If the liquid can flow out, fumes of petrol can too. Imagine if someone lights a cigarette while your bike is parked somewhere
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

You got some Mseal!? Put it in and use a tank cover. For the cost of the tank.. go to last two pages on the pulsar 200 NS thread. A scribd link is floating around.. which tells cost of most spares of Bajaj bikes.

As the hole is on top of the tank and a small one, I think you have a good chance of getting it fixed with Mseal alone.

You got only two options, either change the tank or use Mseal.
