    Power Band

    Hey people I have some questions.
    1. What is a power band? How can it be determined for my p180ug3?
    2. What are the disadvantages of running a p180ug3 lean(as in after installing k&n without rejetting)? Will it run worse than the way it runs in stock config?
    3. If no performance gain is expected, can the K&N air filter be installed without rejetting for just the intake sound?

      I have a P180 UG3 that plan to run on K&N ...

      1. It is the RPM area where your bike can pull easily in any gear, right upto a bit beyond peak power spot... For P180 UG3, I believe it is from 3 krpm to 9 krpm ...

      In other words, the area of good power in RPM band ...

      2. Engine gets hotter, it loses power if you drive for long times. Once under extreme pressure, my P180 just started slowing down & stopped & did not start until 10 minutes.

      3. Yes, Sound will increase & it is installable. But I'm getting controversial statements about K&N on Pulsar, I am thinking to change my mind....

      I mean, like psycho98 said that you can say your valves goodbye ...

        the 'real' power band of the p180 if from 5500 to 9000rpm.......

        dont run ur bike on lean mix specially after the k&n installation the engine will get too hot......

        k&n with no "jetting" is of no use practically, and if you want it just for the kick of the "air suckin" sound......dont go for it.....

          2) Nopes its a better filter than the stock no doubt. plonking in K&N without upjetting itself makes your bike running worse.

          3) You can install it if your pocket is deep enough for $$$ max to max 20,000kms you would need to change inlet exhaust valves and a set of piston rings. if you want showgiri and have the moolah go ahead.

          Let me put it across in a better way :

          Before installing the filter remove your engine head and give a tight french kiss to your inlet & exhaust valves

            Ok so its a bad idea installing k&n without upjetting.
            I didnt want to go for upjetting as it will result in a loss in mileage. a user me is rossi said that there's no need to upjet. so i asked. If i upjet, what kinda mileage should i expect?Currently m gettin just 40. but then again its a p180 and i shouldn't xpect much mileage right??


            Also tell me if this procedure of installing a k&n and upjetting reversible?? Once done can i go back to stock jet and air filter??
            Also what size of jet to go for for optimum performance and mileage combo??Do I need to change the main jet and the pilot jet??

              See, I was told by Bike India that::-->

              1. K&N causes no loss by itself... But problem is that Pulsar already runs lean! due to those 2 Spark plugs at different heights on cylinder ... Even 22o Fi runs lean ...

              2. Without Rejetting, there won't be any mileage loss (noticeable, that is).

              Some info from my side- You can re install air box & stock filter, with no big problem. That's for sure ... Don't know about upjetting...

                        @Samarth: Like I already mentioned, there is really no need for a separate topic or anything.
