  • Fuel Gauge flashing problem on R15 V1

    Hello fellow biker brethren,

My R15 V1 2008 model, seems to have developed some sort of glitch, the Fuel gauge display seems to flash on & off and every time it flashes, it shows me all bars [ indicating a tank full] , though there isnt that much fuel and then when it disappears, no display on the fuel gauge at all.

However, the Odo & the digital speedometer are not affected by this problem.

This problem has been occurring for almost 2 weeks now & when I asked around at the SVC they informed me that this was due to a faulty fuel pump, which is responsible for the erroneous readings and this must be replaced. I visited another Yamaha SVC and they werent sure of the problem at first , but when I Informed my experience with the other SVC, funnily enough, they agreed with the former's views.

Estimated Damage = 7000 K plus labour and this isnt covered by insurance [ or so they informed me]. I'm a bit unsure of whether this actually is the problem and whether there is a work around to this problem

Has anyone else faced this problem and if yes, how did you fix it ?

    Cheers
    Saaki

hey brother initially i had face problem with the fuel pump of my R15 v1 but it was due to faulty petrol and it was replaced under warrenty by yamahas but for that i had to wait for 1 month due to non availability Of fuelpump.. Yes insurance do not cover the fuelpump you have to bear the whole cost of it on your own and it costs arround 7k. Even i am a bit scared now because i have found that my bike shown me similar behaviour that it was shown when the first fuelpump stopped working..

My problem is fixed, I gave it to a castrol bike point and got the bike back with the Fuel gauge working.
When I asked as to what the problem was , they replied that they can cleaned the fuel tank and cleaned the fuel gauge.

That seems to have sorted this problem. This is now working perfectly.
