Let me give a few pointers which may help members put forth their suggestions:
1. ODO - 22,400 kms.
2. Mileage with the existing engine oil (Mobil1 10w40 FS) - ~2k kms.
3. Gear shifts are proper - not harsh.
4. Bike pulls properly in all gears - clutch plates seem proper.
5. Bike starts in one crank - battery/starter relay/fuses proper. (I idle the bike for a min every morning)
6. There are a few drops of oil on the engine casing though!

7. Spark plug is nice reddish in color - optimal settings.
8. Chain lubed 4 days ago - not sure whether this is helpful.

9. I don't stack cloth/paper in the slots in the fairing. (referring to the R15 on fire case)

Is this normal due to engine overheat in the crazy traffic or should I be concerned?

Did you smell it? Smell differs between electrical and oil fire.

My advice will be to open up the fairings completely and check wirings since you say its close to your console. I have seen poor quality insulator tapes getting burnt during electrical short in scooter.

Starnge, but I felt the smoke had no odor! Also, all electricals worked fine. SO I assume its not a short circuit.

No. Let me explain.
I was moving from Sanjay Nagar (B'lore) to Arekere. Mid way, near MG Road I noticed this.
I must say, it was maddening traffic on that day. I never faced crazier traffic earlier.

I have faced heavy traffic and felt the bike heating crazily. Have felt the heat on thighs too but never noticed "huge amount of whitish smoke from the fairing" !!
Anyways double check your engine oil level and viscosity !! If you are using stock oil, please do change it once in every 1.5k to 2k kms for better engine.

I guess this is the third day after the incident occurred. Are you still facing the issue.

If no, have you checked for some loose plastic bag/foreign object which might have made contact with your exhaust pipe?

Engine oil is proper. Checked the dipstick marking. I use Mobil1 10w40 FS. Only 2.2 k kms clocked with it. A lot more to go.

Yes, it occurred a couple of days back and I immediately posted the query. Was approved 2 days later.

Anyways, I noticed the issue twice on that day only. Its running normally now. Just curious to know if something unwanted may happen in future.

Sounds like something had spilled onto the engine case, as you had also mentioned there was a few drops of oil on the casing, so best to check for leaks possibly from the cooling system (oil cooled right?) etc.
