  • Honda unicorn gearbox or engine sound

Since I bought the bike I have this trouble in engine which cannot be simulated to make the mechanic understand the problem (I bought my bike in 2012 June and have done 5600kms) A strange thing happens in engine and sound (karakh) comes out of the bike engine in 3rd and 5th gear mostly and the sound comes just for a s for a second or 2. It feels like some wheels are slipping inside the engine. it happen often at least once in 30kms. one of the mechanic is has asked me to change gear shifting spring because he expects that gear is not sitting in right place and it gets adjusts while running and that's how the sound comes out. i got it serviced and the silicon honda bangalore guys have cleaned the values as the problem didn't get rectified i took it back to them and then they have adjusted gear (thats what they said) andi received the bike form them on monday and today tuesday I got the same problem again twice (travelled 60ks today) any help /.....

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Sounds like a problem with clutch. what RPMs do you encounter it on? Do you experience it when revving hard/ or do you experience it beyond a certain speed? It would really help if you can record a sample of the sound (keep the sound recorder app in your phone into recording mode while riding - it will take some attempts but you'll have a sample sound for analysis)

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Today i got the bike back. They have changed the gear shaft (they told it was bend and not straight). So i took back my bike with confidence that it will not occour. But the same thing occured but not in a high volume. So will ride the bike for some more kms if it comes back i will sell the bike.. I cant take ti to service twice in a week.

Selling is not required. What is required is a good mech. Svc of all brands treat the bikes similarly. It would be futile to think that by selling this and buying another bike, whichever make/brand it is, it would not act up. Coz when it does, the svc of that bike might also do the same thing.

Best thing would be to get it to a good mech and get the fix. Even if you change the entire setup, it would not cost u as much as you selling this and buying a new one.

Sounds like the sound is coming from the gears. Do one thing, get to the 3-4-5 road side mechanics and tell your problem and listen them what they say or suggest. You are not going to fix with them, only you are trying to figure out where the problem is. Also u can record the conversation to hear it again later.
Once u find your exact problem, your bike should be on a warranty. Visit ASC again and tell them to fix your problem also recored it, it might help u as proof later. Don't tell them anything about that u know where the problem is or you've visited the road side mechanics or whatever. If u tell them they will create a problem. Just be there as u don't know anything. And leave your bike till they have fixed it.
            Don't sell your bike.

It occurs between 3000 to 6000 rpm. in the speed between 40 to 60 kms. I never had problem above 60 until now. And when two people are travelling it is happening a lot. After the gear shaft change it has happend only once until now (arount 100kms) Before it used to happen every 30 kms. I will drive it some more kms and wait and see. Also the dear shifting is very hard. Does it require any gear oil change. Toltal kms done until now is 6000kms..

will try this. anyway the sound has not come today. after the gear shaft change i have travelled 100ks and it came only ones that to when changing the gear might be i didn't shift it well. So will wait and see. Also wanted to ask if the gear oil change will help me to shift the gear smoothly because it is little hard to change the gears.
