  • Reliable shop for fixing tubeless tire puncture in Pune

    Guys,

I have read many horror stories of scams running around by puncture fixing guys especially for car tires.

My Pulsar 200NS tubeless tires are losing air pressure so I want to get them checked for puncture. Could you please direct me to some reliable puncture fixing shop in Pune where i won't be facing scumbags..

    Thanks...

I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

You can try one of the 3 tyre shops opposite PMC. Especially the MRF one. There's also one MRF dealership on Nagar Road (opposite Hyatt) which will do it for you.

Alternately(if you feel these are too far away) try a reputed tyre shop to get the puncture repair done. Stay away from the roadside ones who will definitely con you.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Instead of you running to 10 different places why not equip yourself with knowledge in regards to punctures and tires.

Some tricks performed by puncturewalas for cheating customers

      1) In your absence they would insert additonal strips to make it look like a puncture.
Solution - Be present through out the puncture repair process

      2) Show incorrect air pressure around 10PSI stating its a puncture.
Solution - This step is very tricky and most customers fall for it since they keep looking at the air pressure unit showing 10PSI. Ensure you look firmly at the input valve of the pressure unit and on the gauge. These puncture guys do not insert the gauge unit valve completely which shows incorrect or less pressure since most of it is running out through the other half. Keep a watch on Valve and Pressure Unit, not satisfied then do it yourself. Since tubeless punctures are costly you might as well get your hands dirty a bit.

      3) Car and bike punctures sticks are different thats why the cost difference
Solution - Yes they are different in thickness. But the minimal difference of Rs 20 but that also depends on the location where you are getting fixed.

      4) Boss aapke tire ka Valve kharab hai, isliye hava nikal raha hai.
Solution - Fill up air, you can fill 5PSI more than required for this test. Pour some water on the Valve, see if you can trace any bubbles arising. If yes, then you actually need a valve change. If not and he is lying then feel free to choke his breathing valve with both your hands, (just kidding)

      5) Ek sasste vala puncture kaadi hai aur dusra ache quality vala kaadi hai, app bolo kaunsa lagau.
Solution - Both are same, and have the same properties of fixing a puncture. Check for that stick and ensure it is not torn or dried. A dried stick is very dangerous and can fail after installation. Inspect the stick is wet with sticky solvent.

      6) He marks cuts as punctures and inserts the tool before you notice it.
Solution - Clear out your needs in the first instance. Tell him that before you go ahead with the repair i want to see where the puncture is. At times these puncture guys mark out a cut as puncture, they dont even bother to put water to check if air is leaking. Low type cuts are handled by tires itself and do not require repair but to cheat a customer they even go to that level, it might even damage your tire.

I believe that by equipping yourself with knowledge will help you in avoiding loss and problems. Every puncture guy is not here to cheat but the percentage of bad service providers is more.

Another alternative is by carrying your own puncture repair kit, simple and easy. Very cost efficient too.

I know one chap who provides decent service and has his shop open 24/7- Its in front of crossword saurab hall. Charges Rs 80 per strip. You cant change the world but you can surely change your outlook.

1.The MRF one @ Nagar road charges Rs/-125 per puncture
2.Darshan tyres(just beside the MRF one) @ Nagar road charges Rs/-100 per puncture
3.The one Eshan mentioned charges Rs/-80 for the first one and Rs/-70 afterwards(in case you've multiple puntures).

I've experience of all three of them.

My preference is: Darshan Tyres > The one Eshan mentioned > MRF shop

Heard that Darshan tyres @ Kothrud charges Rs/-80 only

Thanks for the tips. I have already read about the kit and how to repair a puncture, but do not have time right now to get one and try my hands on it and I don't even know if the tires have a puncture or not. There might be a leakage from rim edges for all I know. So thought better get it checked from a proper shop.
