  • Old RE Thunderbird tire upgrade.

    Hi Guys,

I am the proud owner of a 2011 Royal Enfield Thunderbird. However my rear tire is due to be replaced and I had a thought, is it possible to fit the wider tire and the rear disk brake of the new thunderbird in mine ? Now I have only had looked at the new TB a couple of times and seemed like the rear swing arm and wheel hub is completely new. I am pretty sure if I want to go for wider tires, I need wider swing arms. I am not looking for tires upward of 120mm width. I just want to know if this is at all possible or not. And if yes, how many components have to be changed. Any info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If you think the swingarm is wider forked in newer models go for it.
Imo old enfiels could accomodate 110 without problems.
      Whats your rim size ?
      19inches I guess

You can go for 120 spec ties. For any ting above, mods are required on swing arm(Also getting 140 spec 18 inch is very difficult).
My advise- Change the rim instead to alloy wheels. Plonk 120 spec tube less tires. Fatter tires would affect the performance and handling.
