  • Skipping OCTROI TAX........HELP!!!

    hi guys,

    i am purchasing a bike from first owner.....also the bike is couple of weeks old(new bike).... so shall i have to paid the octroi tax as the bike is registered under MH06 number and i have to transfer it to MH02 ....??

    i have heard abt skipping octroi tax......many people buy their cars n bikes frm outskirts of mumbai to save octroi......so how true is this ??

      you can do that only if you have a proof of residense out side the city limits.

        you cannot skip octroi if you plan to convert it from MH 06 to 02. MH 02 is Mumbai registration.
        you would not have to pay the octroi if you keep the registration to MH 06, i.e. you produce an address proof in the same registration area.
