  • Honda Activa unusual Oil combustion issue

I have been riding a 2010 Honda Activa (running 26000 kms), until recently i noticed that the engine oil is getting combusted. I had taken them to my mechanic who after inspection told me that the valves need replacement, which i got it done. Still the problem persists. The engine oil gets fully combusted by every 1000 kms. And to quote here is "This problem started when i used Baradhl oil along with the engine oil before a couple of months". Is it related to that ? Now what are the options available in this point of time ? Should I go in for a new cylinder kit which costs around Rs.3000 INR or get the cylinder re-bore to first oversize piston which should cost about Rs.1500 INR. I don't mind spending if i can get the problem solved as I am not ready to go for a trial and error basis. Please help me out. And thanks in advance guys.

Engine oil getting combusted is not usually a problem of the valves, its more related to Piston rings, piston itself and the block. I wonder why the mechanic suggested you to change the valves??
Try getting the engine opened from a trusted mechanic. See if the problem lies in piston rings, or piston or cylinder block's inner wall.

And one more question, what exactly is a "Baradhl oil" and why exactly did you fill it in your Activa in the first place?

you definitely need a rebore+new piston kit. (or a new bore piston kit) - but a sloppy job will be no good. and a rebore job should cost you around 1000rs, while a new bore piston kit is around 3400rs.
I would suggest you take it to a ASC and get a new bore piston kit installed from a factory trained mech, and make sure you give them a piece of your mind before giving your bike in and ask them to fix it 100%

btw.. were are you from ? If you are in Hyderabad maybe i can help you with locating a good mech for the activa.

Actually It was my mistake to use the Baradhl oil or as it was mentioned on the can. It was actually some high density oil to be mixed with the normal oil to increase smoothness in operation, which went the other way. Will the re-bore and first over size piston solve the problem ? I am from Coimbatore, and here the company service is crap, They actually are worthless. So i never even got my free service done through the company. I am doing it through a trusted mechanic who has been taking care of my Yamaha RX-135 for four years now. So I think I will change the bore and post the details in due time. And guys thanks for the able support.
